Chandigarh Literati or Chandigarh Literature Festival is a literary festival held in Chandigarh, India. It is organised by the Chandigarh Literary Society with the support of the Chandigarh Administration and Haryana Tourism. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
According to the chairperson of Sumita Misra, IAS, the Chandigarh Literati was originally conceived in an attempt to promote the literary arts in the city, provide a platform for talented regional writers and thinkers and make available world-class writers to the public. The festival promotes poetry, haiku, vernacular writers as well as fiction and non-fiction writers in English and regional languages like Punjabi, Hindi, etc. "Chandigarh Lit Fest shall showcase the very best in contemporary writing from established and emerging writers, and inspire children as well as all those engaged in creative reading and writing pursuits." The 2013 festival was graced by more than thirty authors from different parts of the country, including bestselling authors and celebrities like Bhaskar Ghose, Gul Panag, Ashwin Sanghi, Jerry Pinto, Meghna Pant, V. Sudarshan, Tishaa Khosla, etc. The two-day festival was organised at the Lake View Club on 23-24 November. There were many sessions which included book readings, author discussions and book launches. The festival attracted visitors from all across the country.

Literati 2014 was a three day gala affair from 7-9 November with poetry, plays, book launches, panel discussions and much more. [11]
2015 festival was a three day affair from 6-8 November with poetry, plays, sufi music, book launches, panel discussions galore. [12] In this festival following authors and poets participated; Kiran Nagarkar, Nayantara Sahgal, Anusha Yadav, Malavika Karlekar, Naman P. Ahuja, Tishani Doshi, Ashok Vajpeyi, Mridula Koshi, Sandip Roy, Mahesh Rao, Teesta Setalvad, Anupam Srivastava, Jonathan Gill Harris, Madhulika Liddle, Ratna Vira, Nilanjan Mukhopadhyay, Kausar Munir, Munna Dhiman, Jane De Suza, Ravi Subramanian, Ravinder Singh, Vinita Dawra Nangia, Nighat Gandhi, Dhritabrata B. 2016 festival was a two day event held on 26 & 27 November 2016 with poetry, plays, book launches, panel discussions galore. [14]
Literati 2017 was a two day event held on 25 & 26 November 2017 Sukhna Lake Club lawns with poetry, plays, book launches, panel discussions galore. Following authors and poets participated and attended the event; Raskin Bond, Saurabh Sharma, Archna Sahni, Vineet Bajpai, Sheela Reddy, Rakhshanda Jalil, Robin Gupta, Ram Varma, Vandana Shukla, Neel Kamal Puri, Chetna Keer, Atamjeet Singh, Jasbeer Mand, Manmohan Singh, Rujuta Diwekar, Lee Maracle, Columpa C. Bobb, Khushwant Singh, Shantanu Gupta. [15]
A literary festival, also known as a book festival or writers' festival, is a regular gathering of writers and readers, typically on an annual basis in a particular city. A literary festival usually features a variety of presentations and readings by authors, as well as other events, delivered over a period of several days, with the primary objectives of promoting the authors' books and fostering a love of literature and writing.
Mahadevi Verma was an Indian Hindi-language poet, essayist, sketch story writer and an eminent personality of Hindi literature. She is considered one of the four major pillars of the Chhayawadi era in Hindi literature. She has been also addressed as the Modern Meera. Poet Nirala had once called her "Saraswati in the vast temple of Hindi Literature". Varma had witnessed India both before and after independence. She was one of those poets who worked for the wider society of India. Not only her poetry but also her social upliftment work and welfare development among women were also depicted deeply in her writings. These largely influenced not only the readers but also the critics, especially through her novel Deepshikha.
Punjab Engineering College is a public research & technical institution in Chandigarh. It was founded in 1921 in Lahore, established in Chandigarh in 1953, and focuses on the field of applied sciences, particularly engineering and technology. It is known for its two-year and four-year programmes for which the entry is through the Joint Entrance Examination – Mains and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It offers degrees such as Bachelor of Technology, Master of Technology, and a few others. It also has a comprehensive graduate program offering doctoral degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Dilip Purushottam Chitre was one of the foremost Indian poets and critics to emerge in the post Independence India. Apart from being a notable bilingual writer, writing in Marathi and English, he was also a teacher, a painter, a filmmaker and a magazine columnist.
Gul Panag is an Indian actress, voice actress, and model. She was crowned Femina Miss India Universe 1999 and represented India at Miss Universe 1999. She began her career in Hindi films with the 2003 film Dhoop directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and since then, she has starred in several films like Jurm along with the TV series Kashmeer.

Muhammad Afzal Ahsan Randhawa was a Pakistani Punjabi language writer, poet, translator, playwright and a politician. He authored several short stories and novels in the Punjabi language including Sooraj Grehan and Doaba.

Ashok Vajpeyi is an Indian Hindi-language poet, essayist, literary-cultural critic, apart from being a noted cultural and arts administrator, and a former civil servant. He was chairman, Lalit Kala Akademi India's National Academy of Arts, Ministry of Culture, Govt of India, 2008–2011. He has published over 23 books of poetry, criticism and art, and was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award given by Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, in 1994 for his poetry collection, Kahin Nahin Wahin. His notable poetry collections include, Shaher Ab Bhi Sambhavana Hai (1966), Tatpurush (1986), Bahuri Akela (1992), Ibarat Se Giri Matrayen, Ummeed ka Doosra Naam (2004) and Vivaksha (2006), besides this he has also published works on literary and art criticism: Filhal, Kuchh Poorvagrah, Samay se Bahar, Kavita ka Galp and Sidhiyan Shuru ho Gayi Hain. He is generally seen as part of the old Delhi-centric literary-cultural establishment consisting of bureaucrat-poets and academicians like Sitakanta Mahapatra, Keki Daruwalla, J.P.Das, Gopi Chand Narang, Indra Nath Choudhari and K.Satchidanandan.

The NGC Bocas Lit Fest is the Trinidad and Tobago literary festival that takes place annually during the last weekend of April in Port of Spain. He was instrumental in the abolishment of sales tax on books. Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) is endorsed and supported by the Government of Kerala, Kerala Tourism and Culture Department. Renowned poet – critic Prof. K. Satchidanandan is the Festival Director along with Publisher Ravi Deecee of DC Books is the Chief Facilitator. The editorial team of DC Books works closely with KLF on the content.
