Charley Davison OLY (born 11 January 1994) is a British amateur boxer who won a bronze medal at the 2023 European Games.
Davison started boxing at the age of eight, trained by her father at home because the local boxing club did not accept girls. [1] She fought Ornella Wahner in 2010 and 2011, [2] before taking a seven year break from boxing and then winning the national championship in 2019. [3]
In June 2021, Davison qualified to represent Great Britain at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics, [4] and reached the final of the 2020 European Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament by defeating Giordana Sorrentino via unanimous points decision in the semi-final. [5] She lost in the final of the Qualification event to Buse Naz Çakıroğlu by split decision. [6]
At the Olympics in Tokyo, Davison went out in the round-of-16, losing by unanimous decision to China's Yuan Chang. [7]
Davison won a bronze medal in the bantamweight category at the 2023 European Games in Poland and in doing so qualified a quota place for the 2024 Summer Olympics. [8] On 7 June 2024, she was officially announced among the Great Britain squad for the Olympics in Paris. [9] She was drawn to fight 2022 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships gold medalist Hatice Akbaş from Turkey in the first round [10] and lost by a 3:2 split decision. [11] [12]
Although women have participated in boxing for almost as long as the sport has existed, female fights have been effectively outlawed for most of boxing's history until recently, with athletic commissioners refusing to sanction or issue licenses to women boxers, and most nations officially banning the sport. Reports of women entering the ring go back to the 18th century.
Nicola Virginia Adams is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2017 to 2019. She retired with an undefeated record and held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) female flyweight title in 2019. As an amateur, she became the first female boxer to become an Olympic champion after winning gold at London 2012, and the first double Olympic champion following a second gold medal at Rio 2016, both in the flyweight division. As of 27 May 2016 she was the reigning Olympic, World and European Games champion at flyweight, and won the entire set of amateur championships available to her – Olympic, Commonwealth and European Games' titles, and the World, European and European Union championships.
Lauren Louise Price is a Welsh professional boxer, former amateur boxer and former kickboxer and footballer. She has held the WBA, IBO, and Ring female welterweight World titles since 11 May 2024. She was the first-ever female British professional boxing champion having won the welterweight title on 6 May 2023 and holding it until vacating the belt when she became World champion. While representing Wales in the amateur sport she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Welsh woman to win a Commonwealth Games boxing medal. Four years later she surpassed this achievement by winning gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, followed by a gold at the 2019 World Championships. While representing Great Britain, she won gold medals at the 2019 European Games and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Galal Yafai is a British professional boxer. As an amateur, he won a silver medal at the 2017 European Championships; gold at the 2018 Commonwealth; bronze at the 2019 European Games; and gold at the 2020 Olympics.
Seonaid McIntosh is a British sports shooter who became the World Champion at the 2018 ISSF World Shooting Championships in the 50m Prone Rifle event. In 2019 she became Britain's most successful female rifle shooter of all time, winning five World Cup medals. She also became the first British Woman to rank World #1 for the 50m Rifle Three Position event and became European Champion in the 300m Rifle Prone event with an equal World Record score.

Benjamin G. Whittaker is an English professional boxer. As an amateur, he won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Great Britain, or in full Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the team of the British Olympic Association (BOA), which represents the United Kingdom, competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kellie Anne Harrington OLY is an Irish retired amateur boxer. During her career she was double Olympic gold medalist, winning at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, and 2018 World champion. Harrington also won gold medals at the 2023 European Games and European Championship.
Caroline Sara Dubois is a British professional boxer. She has held the interim WBC women's lightweight world title since 3 August 2024. As an amateur Dubois was Youth Olympic champion, World Youth champion and four-times European Youth champion. She is the younger sister of heavyweight boxer Daniel Dubois.
Sky Brown is a British-Japanese professional skateboarder and surfer who competes for Great Britain. She was the youngest professional skateboarder in the world, and has also won the American TV programme Dancing with the Stars: Juniors. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she won a bronze medal in the park event, making her the country's youngest ever medallist. She repeated this feat by winning bronze for a second time in park at the 2024 Summer Olympics. In addition, she won the same event at the 2023 World Skateboarding Championship.
Chang Yuan is a Chinese amateur boxer. On 8 August 2024, she defeated Turkish boxer Hatice Akbaş by 5-0 to win the gold medal in women's 54 kg boxing at the 2024 Summer Olympics, thus becoming the first ever Chinese female boxer to win a gold medal at any Olympics.
Great Britain, the team of the British Olympic Association (BOA) which represents the United Kingdom, competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris from 26 July to 11 August 2024. The delegation of 327 athletes included 172 women and 155 men and featured 73 medallists from previous Games. The team was made up of athletes from the whole United Kingdom including Northern Ireland. Additionally some British overseas territories compete separately from Britain in Olympic competition.
