Charlos Cove is a small Acadian community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough in Guysborough County.Charlos Cove is a fishing community. In 1760 the first Acadian settlers, came to Charlos Cove. St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church built in 1876 is the centre of the community. In 1879 the first school house was built. In 1920 a two-room school was built which today is the parish hall.
Canso is a community in Guysborough County, on the north-eastern tip of mainland Nova Scotia, Canada, next to Chedabucto Bay. In January 2012, it ceased to be a separate town and as of July 2012 was amalgamated into the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.

The Aspotogan Peninsula is a peninsula in the eastern part of Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, separating St. Margarets Bay in the east from Mahone Bay in the west. The peninsula was originally settled by second generation French immigrants on the east side and by second generation German immigrants on the west side. Traditionally fishing was a major industry for communities throughout the peninsula, however other primary industries such as farming and forestry were historically important as well. Pirate Harbour is a small community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough in Guysborough County. It is located just south of Mulgrave, Nova Scotia, on the west side of the Strait of Canso. The Mi'kmaq name for the place was Tesogwode, "the place where goods were sorted." The name Pirate Harbour was allegedly given because the space between the small island and the cove provided safe anchorage and a hiding place for pirates such as Captain Kidd and Paul Jones. A settlement was established in 1785, and early settlers included John Wilson and John Peeples, who each received a thousand-acre grant there in 1785.

One of the last segregated schools in Nova Scotia, the Lincolnville School closed in 1983.
Belliveau Cove is a historical Acadian community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the District of Clare in Digby County settled in 1768 on un-ceded Mi'kmaq territory. A major centre of wooden shipbuilding in the 19th and early 20th century, Belliveau Cove built the second largest wooden ship ever constructed in Canada, the County of Yarmouth in 1884. It is now a mixed community of citizens with diverse backgrounds, including Acadians.
