Chaturanga Lakmal Jayasooriya Arachchilage also known as Chathuranga Lakmal (born 7 October 1988) is a Sri Lankan male weightlifter. [1]

Career

He competed for Sri Lanka in the 2016 South Asian Games and claimed a silver medal in the men's 56 kg event.

He was named as one of the members of the Sri Lankan contingent at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Chaturanga Lakmal also claimed the nation's first Commonwealth Games medal during the 2018 Commonwealth Games after clinching a bronze medal in the men's 56kg weightlifting event on the opening day of the competition. [2] [3] [4] [5] Later on the same day after Chaturanga Lakmal's bronze medal, Sri Lanka received another bronze medal in weightlifting with Dinusha Gomes claiming a bronze in the women's 58 kg weightlifting category, which was ultimately Sri Lanka's second medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. [6] [7] He is qualified to compete at the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships in the men's 61kg category. [8]

Lakmal has qualified to compete for Sri Lanka at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. [9] [10]

Dinusha Hansani Gomes, also known as Hansani Gomes, is a Sri Lankan female weightlifter. She was named as one of the members of the Sri Lankan contingent at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and claimed a bronze medal in the women's 48kg event on the opening day of the competition on 5 April 2018, which was also the second medal earned by Sri Lanka at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and was also the second medal secured by the Sri Lankan contingent in weightlifting category. Gomes also won Sri Lanka's first ever weightlifting medal by a woman at the Commonwealth Games.

Indika Chathuranga D. Dissanayake Mudiyanselage, also known as Indika Dissanayake, is a Sri Lankan male weightlifter. He competed in the 69 kg division at the Asian Games, South Asian Games and at the Commonwealth Games, and won silver medals at the 2016 South Asian Games and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Anusha Koddithuwakku Dirukshi, also known as Anusha Koddithuwakku, is a Sri Lankan boxer who generally competes in light flyweight event. She has competed in several international competitions including the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Talha Talib is a Pakistani weightlifter from Gujranwala. He is the Pakistani national champion in the 62 kg category. He set a new record at the games in snatch as he lifted 132 kg in the third attempt with 127 kg and 130 kg in the first two attempts, respectively. He was also a gold medalist at the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Weightlifting Championships in Penang. He lifted 258 kg to clinch the gold. He is currently the top No. 1 ranked weightlifter of Pakistan.

Abeykoon Mudiyansalage Yupun Priyadarshana, known as Yupun Abeykoon, also referred to as Yupun Priyadarshana, is a Sri Lankan track and field athlete and a national record holder in men's 100m, men's 200m and in men's indoor 60m. He currently resides in Italy as he went on a scholarship to Italy in 2015. He is also attached to the Electronic and Mechanical Engineering Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army and represents Army Sports Club. He is currently regarded as the fastest Sri Lankan man as well as fastest South Asian man in men's 100m and 200m disciplines. On 3 July 2022, he became the first South Asian to break the 10-Second barrier for the men's 100 meters event at the Resisprint International competition, with a timing of 9.96 seconds, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Dilanka Isuru Kumara is a Sri Lankan weightlifter. He represented Sri Lanka at the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships, as well as the 2021 Asian Championships.
