Cavite, officially the Province of Cavite, is a province in the Philippines located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon. Located on the southern shores of Manila Bay and southwest of Metro Manila, it is one of the most industrialized and fastest-growing provinces in the Philippines. Its population of 3,678,301 (2015) makes it one of the most populated provinces in the country. Originally agricultural and now a booming bedroom community for ultracongested Metro Manila, its location just north of Taal volcano poses significant risks of ashfall, and debris flows through it into Manila Bay.
Tagaytay, officially the City of Tagaytay, is a 2nd class city in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 71,181 people.
Mark Callano Paragua is a Filipino chess grandmaster. He won the Philippine Chess Championship in 2012. He was the youngest Filipino master ever, at nine (9) years of age. He also became the youngest Filipino GM ever at 20, beating out Eugenio Torre's record by about two (2) years.

A lawyer by profession, he is the husband of former president and house speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He is the first and only male spouse of a President of the Philippines and Vice President of the Philippines.
Rogelio Antonio Jr. is a Filipino chess grandmaster, who was awarded the title in 1993. He is affectionately known as "Joey" Antonio or GM Joey. Antonio finished third in the 2009 Asia Continental Chess Championship and became the first player in the Philippines' history to qualify for the World Cup later in 2009. As of November 2020, his Elo rating was 2421, making him the 14th ranked player in the Philippines and number 2368 in the world.
Wesley Barbasa So is a Filipino-American chess grandmaster and current World Fischer Random Chess Champion. He is a three-time Filipino Chess Champion and a two-time U.S. Chess Champion, in 2017 and 2020. On the March 2017 FIDE rating list, he was ranked number two in the world and had an Elo rating of 2822, making him the fifth-highest rated player in history.
Eugenio "Eugene" Torre is a Filipino chess player. In 1974, at 22 years old, he became the first Asian to qualify for the title Grandmaster by winning the silver medal in the 21st Chess Olympiad in Nice, France. He is considered the strongest chess player the Philippines produced during the 1980s and 1990s, and played for the Philippines on board 1 in seventeen Chess Olympiads.
The 2019 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 30th Southeast Asian Games, or 2019 SEA Games and commonly known as Philippines 2019, was the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a biennial regional multi-sport event which was held in the Philippines from 30 November to 11 December 2019. However, due to a narrow calendar, some sports started before the opening ceremony as early as 24 November.
Abraham Ng Tolentino, also known as Bambol Tolentino, is a Filipino politician and former representative of the 7th and incumbent representative of the 8th Districts of Cavite. He also served as Mayor of Tagaytay from 2004 to 2013 and City Councilor from 1998 to 2004. He is one of the 70 representatives who voted to reject the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.

Chess at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games was the first SEA Games tournament since the 2013 edition in Naypyidaw. Chess will feature seven team events. Among these events are men's and women's blitz, rapid and standard while other categories such as bullet, lightning, armageddon and the Asian chess are also under consideration for inclusion. The National Chess Federation of the Philippines originally planned to host individual events but scrapped such plans. Chess is being held from 1 to 8 December 2019.
Skateboarding at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games was held in Tagaytay, Philippines from 3 to 8 December 2019. This edition marks the first time that skateboarding was contested in the regional games.

The chess events at the 2003 Southeast Asian Games were held from 5 to 13 December at the Vân Đồn sports centre in District 4 of Ho Chi Minh City. This was the first time chess was contested for medals at the Southeast Asian Games. Medals were awarded in eight categories: men's and women's individual and team performances in the combined event held at classical time controls, men's and women's individual competitions at rapid time controls, and men's and women's team competitions at rapid time controls.
The Asian Team Chess Championship is an international team chess tournament open to national federations affiliated to FIDE in Asia and Oceania. It is organized by the Asian Chess Federation, and the winner qualifies to participate at the next World Team Chess Championship. The open championship has been held at intervals of anywhere from one to four years since 1974. The Asian Women's Team Chess Championship has been held concurrently with the open championship since 1995. Recent editions have additionally featured side team events held at rapid and blitz time controls.
