Plot

Desperate to come out of a failing marriage, a married man gets into a whirlwind affair with a glamorous woman who has a criminal past, but ends up as the prime accused when she is murdered. The case falls into a timid but determined cop who unearths a deep buried scandal about the man's family involving his politically affiliated mother.

Production

Director Indranil Roychowdhury started shooting for the show in October 2022 after a year of scripting and workshops with his actors. [8]

Marketing

The show was officially announced by ZEE5 on December 11, 2022. [9] [10] Following that, a teaser poster of the show was first revealed on Jun 8, 2023. [11] The trailer of the show was launched on October 12, 2023. [12] [13]

Reception

The show drew positive reactions across board from critics. The Indian Express call it "Bengal’s best web series" rating it 4 out of 5. [14] OTTPlay commented, "Chhotolok is one of the finest Bengali content available in India in the OTT space." [15]

Chakrabarty is also known for acting in the Bengali classic periodic thriller TV series Byomkesh (2014-2015), where he played the role of iconic Bengali detective Byomkesh Bakshi. He hails from a family which has had a legacy of association with the Bengali cultural arena, starting from Jochhon Dastidar and Chandra Dastidar, Bijon Bhattacharya, Jagadish Chandra Chakrabarty & Monika Chakrabarty, and his parents Sabyasachi Chakrabarty & Mithu Chakrabarty. He debuted on the big screen Kaushik Ganguly's Rang Milanti one of the most appreciated films of the year 2011.

<i>Double Feluda</i> 2016 film directed by Sandip Ray

Double Feluda is a 2016 Bengali language crime thriller detective film, based on the Bengali sleuth Feluda, created by the acclaimed and renowned Oscar- winning director Satyajit Ray. It is the 19th film in the Feluda series. Directed by his son Sandip Ray, the film marks the comeback of both Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Saheb Bhattacharya, with the former returning to the eponymous role of Feluda and the latter playing his sidekick. This is a sequel of Royal Bengal Rahashya (2011). The film released on 16 December 2016 to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic creation. The film is based on two Feluda stories - Samaddarer Chabi and Golokdham Rahasya.

Ankita Chakraborty is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Bengali Cinema and television. She is known for her appearances in the Byomkesh series films: Byomkesh Phire Elo (2014), Byomkesh Bakshi (2015), Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana (2016), and Byomkesh O Agnibaan. Her best-known television appearances are Ishti Kutum (2011) as Kamalika and Indrani (2022) as Indrani.
