Chidambaram S. Poduval, known professionally as Chidambaram, is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Malayalam cinema. He is best known for his 2nd directorial Manjummel Boys (2024) which went to become the highest grossing Malayalam movie [1] .

Career

Chidambaram is known for his debut film Jan.E.Man (2021) and Manjummel Boys (2024). [2] [3] He was born in Payyanur. He is also the elder brother of actor Ganapathi, who co-wrote Jan.E.Man along with him. [4] [5] He was previously an assistant director to Jayaraj and assistant cinematographer to Rajeev Ravi and K. U. Mohanan. [6] [7]

The film was produced by Lakshmi Warrier, Ganesh Menon, Sajith Kookal and Shawn Antony under the banner of Cheers Entertainment. The film was released on 19 November 2021, and was unanimously met with critical acclaim with praise towards the performances, clean humour, emotional depth, story and Chidambaram's direction.

Manjummel Boys is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language survival thriller film written and directed by Chidambaram. It is produced by Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony under Parava Films. The film stars an ensemble cast, which includes Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Deepak Parambol, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman and Shebin Benson. Based on a Guna Caves rescue in 2006, in the film, a group of friends from a small locality called Manjummel near Kochi, who decide to have a vacation in Kodaikanal, which is affected when one of them becomes trapped in the Guna Caves.

<i>Manjummel Boys</i> (soundtrack) 2024 soundtrack album by Sushin Shyam

Manjummel Boys is the soundtrack to the 2024 film of the same name directed by Chidambaram S. Poduval and produced by Babu Shahir, Soubin Shahir and Shawn Antony under the banner Parava Films. The film features an ensemble cast of Soubin, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson, and Vishnu Reghu.

On 3 September 2006, Subhash Chandran fell into Guna Caves in Tamil Nadu, India and was rescued by his friend Siju David. This is the only known case where a person who has fallen into Guna Caves has survived.
