The Chilukki Stakes is a Grade III American thoroughbred horse race for fillies and mares age three and older over a distance of one mile on the dirt held annually in November at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky during the fall meeting. It currently offers a purse of $300,000.
The inaugural running of the event was on 1 November 1986 as the Churchill Downs Budweiser Breeders' Cup Handicap at a distance of seven furlongs and was won by James J. Devaney's three-year-old filly Lazer Show who started as the 4/5 odds-on favorite winning by 2+1⁄2 lengths ono a fast track in a time of 1:223⁄5. [1] The event was sponsored by Budweiser and the Breeders' Cup with lucrative stakes. [1]
The following year the event was increased to one mile. [2]
In 1988 the American Graded Stakes Committeeclassified the event with Grade III status. [3]
With continued quality competitors the event attracted the race was upgraded to Grade II in 1992. [3]
In 1995 sponsorship from Budweiser and the Breeders' Cup ceased and the event was renamed to the Churchill Downs Distaff Handicap. [2]
In 2000 the event as an undercard race on the Breeders' Cup program was won by the US Champion Two-Year-Old Filly from the previous year, Chilukki who set a new track record of 1:33.57 for the mile distance. [4] Chilukki was no stranger to Churchill Downs having also set the track record for the short 4+1⁄2 furlongs distance as a two-year-old and winning the Grade III Debutante Stakes. In 2005 the event was renamed in her honor as the Chilukki Stakes. [2]

Untapable is an American Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed promise as a two-year-old in 2013 when she won two of her four races including the Pocahontas Stakes and was placed in the Starlet Stakes. In 2014 she emerged as a top-class racehorse, winning the Rachel Alexandra Stakes, Fair Grounds Oaks, Kentucky Oaks, Mother Goose Stakes, Cotillion Handicap and Breeders' Cup Distaff and was named American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.
Caressing was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She won five of her eighteen races in a track career which lasted from July 2000 until November 2002. As a two-year-old she won two of her first four races before recording a 47/1 upset win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, which led to her being named American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly. In the following year her career was disrupted by illness but she did win the La Troienne Stakes and the Singapore Plate. After competing without success as a four-year-old she was retired from racing and had some success as a broodmare – the dam of two graded black type placed horses and multiple Grade 1 winner West Coast, Eclipse Champion 3 Year Old Male of 2018.

The 2018 Breeders' Cup World Championships was the 35th edition of the premier event of the North American thoroughbred horse racing year. The 14 races, all but one of which were Grade I, took place on November 2 and 3 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The races were telecast by NBCSN on Friday and early Saturday, and by NBC later on Saturday. The Breeders' Cup is generally regarded as the end of the North American racing season, although a few Grade I events take place in later November and December. The event typically determines champions in many of the Eclipse Award divisions, although it was missing the eventual Horse of the Year, Triple Crown champion Justify, who was retired in July.
