The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second-oldest continuously operating professional basketball league in the world after North America's NBA.

Jose Emmanuel "Noli" Macasaet Eala is a Filipino sports executive and disbarred lawyer who served as the 11th chairperson of the Philippine Sports Commission from August 30 to December 28, 2022. He previously served as the sixth commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association from 2003 to 2007. Before he became the commissioner of the league, he was a play-by-play commentator of Viva-Vintage Sports, which broadcasts the PBA Games, from the early 1990s until 2002. He was elected as commissioner of the league in 2002 after his predecessor, Emilio "Jun" Bernardino, retired from his post.

Renauld N. Barrios, better known as Sonny Barrios, is the seventh commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association and the current executive director of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. Before serving as commissioner, he took on the role in an acting capacity in August 2007 when his predecessor Noli Eala resigned after being disbarred by the Supreme Court. He accepted his election as the commissioner on January 24, 2008, after a deadlock ensued between the league's governors that supported Atty. Chito Salud and Lambert Ramos. The board instead named Barrios as the commissioner.
The PBA on Solar Sports was branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association basketball games produced by Solar Sports which began in the 2008-09 season. Solar Entertainment had acquired the rights to the PBA after a highly publicized bidding war with major broadcaster ABS-CBN, and aired games on several channels, including Basketball TV, the Radio Philippines Network, and later the ABS-CBN-owned Studio 23.
Andres "Chito" Yuseco Narvasa, Jr. is a Filipino business executive and former basketball player and coach. He is best known as the ninth commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association.
The 2010–11 PBA season was the 36th season of the Philippine Basketball Association. It started on October 3, 2010 and ended on August 21, 2011. The season marked the return of the original three-conference format, starting with the Philippine Cup, or the traditional All-Filipino Conference. The import-laden Commissioner's Cup returned as the second tournament, while the Governors' Cup also returned, serving as the third conference which also served as an import-laden tournament.

He is also the founder of "PTV Sports", a nightly sports newscast aired on PTV which served as his home network from March 2006 to January 2015. Badua also served as the first commissioner of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) in 2017. He was succeeded by Kenneth Duremdes before the league's inaugural season began.
