Christopher Brewer (born January 23, 1962) is a former American football running back who played two seasons in the National Football League with the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears. He was drafted by the Broncos in the ninth round of the 1984 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Arizona and attended George Washington High School in Denver, Colorado. [1] Brewer was also a member of the Denver Dynamite and New England Steamrollers of the Arena Football League.

Professional career

Brewer was selected by the Arizona Wranglers in the 1984 USFL Territorial Draft. [2]

Denver Broncos

Brewer was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 245th pick in the 1984 NFL Draft and played in thirteen games for the team during the 1984 season. [1] He was released by the Broncos on September 2, 1985. [3]

In May 1986, the Arizona Outlaws traded Brewers' USFL rights to the Memphis Showboats. [4]

Denver Dynamite

Brewer played for the Denver Dynamite during the 1987 season, earning First-team All-Arena honors. [5] [6] The Dynamite won ArenaBowl I against the Pittsburgh Gladiators on August 1, 1987. [7]

Chicago Bears

Brewer played in three games, starting one, for the Chicago Bears in 1987. [1]

New England Steamrollers

Brewer played for the New England Steamrollers in 1988. [5]

The 1987 Arena Football League season was the first season, also known as the "demonstration season", of the Arena Football League (AFL). The league champions were the Denver Dynamite, who defeated the Pittsburgh Gladiators in ArenaBowl I.

Freddie Gilbert is a former American football player who played defensive end for three seasons with the Denver Broncos in the NFL. Born in Griffin, Georgia, Gilbert attended Griffin High School and then went on to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Gilbert was drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 1984 Supplemental Draft, but opted to play his first two years professionally with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL. He joined the Broncos for the 1986 season and played in Super Bowl XXI and Super Bowl XXII. Gilbert finished his career with the Phoenix Cardinals in 1989. He resides in Athens, Georgia.

Matthew Gillette Robinson is a former professional American football player, a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) from 1977–1982 for the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and Buffalo Bills. He was later with the Jacksonville Bulls and Portland Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1984 and 1985, respectively.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Denver Dynamite (arena football)</span> Arena football team

The Denver Dynamite were an arena football team based in Denver, Colorado. The team began play in 1987 as a charter member of the Arena Football League. The team was brought in by businessman Sidney Shlenker and the team achieved success instantly, winning the first ever ArenaBowl under future AFL Hall of Fame coach Tim Marcum. After sitting out the 1988 season, the Dynamite were purchased by investment banker Gary Graham for $125,000. Graham then hired former NFL and AFL coach Babe Parilli to lead the team. Under Parilli, the Dynamite would return to the playoffs every season, but failed to return to the ArenaBowl. After the 1991 season, the franchise was sued by their public relations firm and filed for bankruptcy. They played their home games at McNichols Sports Arena. The team's logo was a bundle of dynamite sticks with a burning fuse.

Osweiler first served as the Broncos' starter during their Super Bowl-winning season in 2015 when he relieved an injured Peyton Manning, although Manning resumed his starting duties for the playoffs and eventual Super Bowl 50 victory. Kelly L. Kirchbaum is a former American football linebacker who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the fifth round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Kentucky and attended North Hardin High School in Radcliff, Kentucky. Zephrini Lee is a former American football player who played three seasons in the National Football League with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Raiders. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Raiders in the ninth round of the 1986 NFL Draft.
