Christopher J Godfrey (born May 17, 1958) is a former American football guard in the National Football League (NFL), primarily for the New York Giants. He started in Super Bowl XXI and honored as the New York Giants Alumni Man of the Year. Godfrey played college football at the University of Michigan. He also played with the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football League (USFL). [1] His daughters Mary Grace, international childrenswear designer and couture dressmaker, [2] and Anastassia were members of the Michigan Wolverines swim team, [3] and his son John was a defensive lineman for the Ball State Cardinals football team. [4]

Godfrey founded the organization Life Athletes. He has visited schools in throughout the United States and internationally promoting Christianity and pro-marriage family values. [5] New York Archbishop John Cardinal O'Connor, New York Giants owners Wellington and Ann Mara and the Knights of Columbus were key supporters of his work. [6]

He is the owner of Godfrey Law offices located in South Bend, Indiana. [7]

The 1986 NFL season was the 67th regular season of the National Football League. Defending Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears shared the league's best record with the Giants at 14–2, with the Giants claiming the spot in the NFC by tiebreakers. In the AFC, the Cleveland Browns earned home-field advantage with a record of 12–4, and they hosted the New York Jets in round one of the AFC playoffs. The Jets had started the season at 10–1 before losing their final five contests. The game went to double OT, with the Browns finally prevailing 23–20. Ronnie P. Barnes is an American football athletic trainer who is the head athletic trainer for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He is also their senior vice president of medical services, and has been with the organization since 1976. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1975, and was the first African-American head athletic trainer in the NFL.
