Christopher G. Hall (born 7 June 1956) is an English-American politician and academic. Hall was the president of the American University in Kosovo and a former state senator from Maine. Hall's background is as a steel and mining executive,but after growing weary of long commutes from Portland,Maine,to New York City,he sought a career change. [1] In 2002,Hall was elected as a Democratic senator in midcoast Maine in a disputed election in which he narrowly defeated Republican Leslie Fossel. [2] [3] [4] He failed to win reelection in 2004,and in 2007 accepted the appointment to lead the American University in Kosovo. [1] In May 2014,Hall was appointed president of International Horizons College in Dubai by its board of trustees. [5]
Hall earned his bachelor's,master's,and doctoral degrees from Oxford University. [6] He spent several years in the mining industry,including as an executive,and was an economics and public policy consultant in Portland,Maine.
He first was elected as member of the Maine House of Representatives in 2000,defeating John C. Harris in the 56th district. [7] In 2002 Hall decided to run for State Senator in the 16th district against Leslie T. Fossel,which he won after a recount. [8] In 2004,Hall ran in the 20th district,losing to Dana L. Dow,which marked the end of his political career. [9]
From 2005 to 2006 Hall taught public policy courses at Central Maine Community College. [6] In 2007,he was offered a position as president of the American University in Kosovo,and held that post until 2012. Hall had a longstanding interest in the Balkans,and had been one of the first Americans to visit Albania in 1990 when it reopened to tourists. In Kosovo,he found that decades of repression and war had left a legacy of setbacks within the educational system,and aspired to use the American University in Kosovo to help train the country's next generation of leaders. Following his departure from Kosovo in 2012,Hall was named interim president of the York County Community College in Maine. [6] In May 2014,he was appointed president of International Horizons College in Dubai. [5]
Hall was married to the late Jacqueline Wardell,who ran a community bank in Maine that provided small business loans to women and minorities. [1]
Edmund Sixtus Muskie was an American statesman and political leader who served as the 58th United States Secretary of State under President Jimmy Carter,a United States Senator from Maine from 1959 to 1980,the 64th Governor of Maine from 1955 to 1959,and a member of the Maine House of Representatives from 1946 to 1951. He was the Democratic Party's candidate for Vice President of the United States in the 1968 presidential election.

The University of Southern Maine (USM) is a public university with campuses in Portland,Gorham and Lewiston in the U.S. state of Maine. It is the southernmost of the University of Maine System. It was founded as two separate state universities,Gorham Normal School and Portland University. Richard Glen Woodbury is an American politician and economist from Maine. A Republican,Mason formerly served in the Maine State Senate from the 22nd District,representing part of Androscoggin County,including his residence in Lisbon Falls. In 2003,he graduated from Calvary Christian Academy in Turner. In 2006,Mason graduated from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola,Florida with a B.A. in marketing. He also completed graduate work at Southern New Hampshire University and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After college,Mason worked for the AA baseball team Portland Sea Dogs and as director of administration for the QJMHL hockey team Lewiston Maineiacs. He also received at honorary doctorate in Humanities from Pensacola Christian College in 2018.
Chris Johnson is an American politician from Maine. He was a member of the Maine Senate. A Democrat,Johnson won a special election to replace David Trahan,who had resigned to work as a lobbyist. In 2010,Johnson lost to Trahan with 32% of the vote. He won election to his first full term in November 2012 by 171 votes over Republican State Representative Les Fossel. He is a resident of Somerville,Maine and a graduate of Bangor High School and the University of Maine.
Nathan Libby is an American Democratic politician from Maine. He represents Senate District 21,which serves Lewiston,Maine's second-largest city. Libby grew up in central Maine and attended Bates College where he majored in history and economics. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine and works as an economic development consultant,currently as the president of Community Concepts Finance Corporation. Libby served one term in the Maine House of Representatives from 2012 to 2014 and was first elected to the Maine Senate in 2014. He served as the Senate majority leader from 2018-2020.

The elections coincided with the 2016 U.S. presidential election,as well as other elections to the House of Representatives,elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections. The primaries were held on June 14.
The 2018 United States Senate election in Maine was held on November 6,2018,alongside a gubernatorial election,U.S. House elections,and other state and local elections. Incumbent Independent Senator Angus King won reelection to a second term.
Frank George Farrington was an American lawyer and politician from Maine. Farrington,a Republican from Augusta,severed four terms in the Maine Legislature,including two in the Maine House of Representatives and two in the Maine Senate. He lost the Republican gubernatorial primary in 1924 to Ku Klux Klan-backed Ralph Owen Brewster by just 581 votes.
