Margaret "Peggy" R. Rotundo (born July 16,1949) is an American politician from Maine. [1] Rotundo served as a Democratic member of the Maine House of Representatives,representing District 74,which included part of Lewiston,from 2008 until 2016. From 2000 to 2008,she represented Lewiston in the Maine Senate. In 2006 she was named Senate Chair of the Maine Joint Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs. Supporters have regularly praised Rotundo for her commitment to bipartisanship and her advocacy for Maine people,particularly veterans,children,the elderly,immigrants and working mothers. In February 2016,Rotundo announced she would not run for Maine Senate. She was unable to seek re-election to the Maine House of Representatives due to term-limits. [2]
Rotundo served as an at-large member of the Lewiston School Committee from 1994 to 2002,including four years as Chair of the School Committee (1998–2002).
Rotundo was born in Schenectady,New York and graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1971. She has worked in the Bates College administration since 1978. Rotundo had previously worked from 1976 to 1978 as development director at the Abington Friends School in Pennsylvania.

She was the first Republican woman elected to serve a full term in the Pennsylvania Senate in 1990 when she was 28 years old. In her first run for office,Hart defeated an incumbent in a senate district that included parts of Allegheny,Westmoreland and Armstrong counties. Leticia Rosa Magdalena Aguilar Van de Putte (née San Miguel;born December 6,1954) is an American politician from San Antonio,Texas. She represented the 26th District in the Texas Senate from 1999–2015. From 1991 to 1999,Van de Putte was a member of the Texas House of Representatives. In 2014,she was the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor but lost the general election,58-39 percent,to her Republican senatorial colleague,Dan Patrick of Houston. Margaret Louise Carter is an American politician who was a Democratic member of the Oregon Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1999 and 2001 to 2009 and was the first black woman elected to the state's legislature. A Democrat,Berube served in the Maine Legislature for 26 years,including terms in both the Maine House of Representatives and the Maine Senate. Berube served in the Maine House from 1970 to 1982 after being elected to represent her hometown of Lewiston. Serving until 1982,Berube then ran in the Democratic primary for Governor of Maine,challenging incumbent Joseph Brennan. She ran as a party outsider. Berube,along with Republican Sherry Huber,lost the primaries but became the first women to run for Governor in Maine. Two years later,she sought and won a seat in the Maine Senate,where she served until 1996. Retiring temporarily in 1996,Berube was re-elected in 1998 and finished her political career in 2000.
