Glenn "Chip" Curry is an American Democratic politician and youth advocate currently serving as the Maine State Senator for District 11. He has represented Waldo County in the State Senate since 2020 and is the student services coordinator at the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA)'s Rockland center. Curry earned an MS in College Student Personnel Services from Miami University in 1994 and worked in student services at Unity College and the University of Southern Maine (USM)'s Muskie School of Public Service before joining UMA.
Curry has worked in education and youth development since 1992 [1] ,earning a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Services from Miami University in 1994. [2] [3] He moved to Waldo County the same year [1] and worked as an academic advisor and student activities coordinator at Unity College and as an AmeriCorps VISTA project coordinator for the USM Edmund Muskie School of Public Service. [3] [4] Curry served on several task forces and statewide youth advocacy groups during this time, [4] [5] and in 2013 was hired as the student services coordinator at the University of Maine at Augusta center in Rockland. Curry first ran for Maine Senate in 2012 when he sought to unseat Republican incumbent Michael Thibodeau in then-district 23. [1] He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary [7] but lost 54%-46% in the general election. [8]
In March 2020,Curry announced that he would run to fill Senate District 11 seat being vacated by Erin Herbig,who had been hired to be the Belfast city manager and therefore did not seek re-election. [6] He defeated two opponents in two rounds of the ranked-choice Democratic primary and defeated Republican Duncan Milne 54%-46% in the general election. [7]
As of 2021,he is a member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife committee and chair of Joint Committee on Innovation,Development,Economic Advancement and Business. [9]
Curry has been married to his wife Christi,a teacher,since 1995. The Currys have one daughter. [5] Curry is a "proud member" of the Belfast Curling Club and the Northport Golf Club and serves as co-chair of the UMA Professional Employees Association. [10] He has volunteered as a set builder for the Searsport District High School theater department since 1996. [5]

Rockland is a city in Knox County,Maine,in the United States. As of the 2020 census,the town population was 6,936. It is the county seat of Knox County. The city is a popular tourist destination. It is a departure point for the Maine State Ferry Service to the islands of Penobscot Bay:Vinalhaven,North Haven and Matinicus.

The Penobscot River is a 109-mile-long (175 km) river in the U.S. state of Maine. Including the river's West Branch and South Branch increases the Penobscot's length to 264 miles (425 km),making it the second-longest river system in Maine and the longest entirely in the state. Its drainage basin contains 8,610 square miles (22,300 km2).
The University of Southern Maine (USM) is a public university with campuses in Portland,Gorham and Lewiston in the U.S. state of Maine. It is the southernmost of the University of Maine System. It was founded as two separate state universities,Gorham Normal School and Portland University. The Maine Central Railroad Company was a U. S. Class I railroad in central and southern Maine. It was chartered in 1856 and began operations in 1862. Penobscot Bay is an inlet of the Gulf of Maine and Atlantic Ocean in south central Maine. The bay originates from the mouth of Maine's Penobscot River,downriver from Belfast. Penobscot Bay has many working waterfronts including Rockland,Rockport,and Stonington,and Belfast upriver. Penobscot Bay is between Muscongus Bay and Blue Hill Bay,just west of Acadia National Park.
Knox County Regional Airport is a county-owned,public-use airport in the town of Owls Head,Knox County,Maine,United States. It is located three nautical miles (6 km) south of the central business district of Rockland,Maine. The airport serves the residents of midcoast Maine with commercial and charter aviation services. Leigh Ingalls Saufley is the dean of the University of Maine School of Law and former Chief Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Saufley grew up in South Portland,Maine and attended the University of Maine and the University of Maine School of Law. She was first appointed to the Maine District Court in 1990,and to the Supreme Judicial Court in 1997. She was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court in 2001,becoming both Maine's first woman and the youngest person ever to serve in the position. She served as chief justice until 2020 when she was hired as the eighth Dean of the University of Maine School of Law.
The Passagassawakeag River is a 16-mile-long (26 km) river in Waldo County,Maine in the United States. From the outlet of Lake Passagassawakeag in Brooks,it runs south and east to its estuary in Belfast,Maine. The river empties into Belfast Bay,an inlet of Penobscot Bay,where it passes under US Route 1.
U.S. Route 1 in the U.S. state of Maine is a major north–south state highway serving the eastern part of the state. Glenn A. Cummings was a Democratic member of the Maine House of Representatives,representing the state's 115th district. Michael D. Thibodeau is an American politician and businessman from Maine. He was a Republican State Senator from Maine's 23rd District,representing all of Waldo County. He graduated from Hampden Academy in 1984. He was first elected to the Maine State Senate in 2010 after serving from 2006 to 2010 as state representative. He also served on the board of selectmen of Winterport.
David Miramant is an American Democratic politician and pilot from Maine. He represents Senate District 12,Knox County,in the Maine Senate. Miramant served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006-2008 and was first elected to the Senate in 2014.
