Christine Joyce Dradidi Ondoa is a physician and medical administrator who is regarded as one of Uganda's finest leaders especially in ensuring that the quality of health service delivery in Uganda is improved, and discipline and ethical code of conduct among health workers is observed. She is a Ugandan paediatrician and Christian Leader. She currently serves as the Director General of the Uganda AIDS Commission. She was appointed to that position by the President of Uganda in February 2014. Prior to that, she served as a Senior Presidential Advisor to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Public Health. She was a member of the board of directors of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI). [1] She was Minister of Health in the Ugandan Cabinet from 2011 to 2013. She was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011, [2] but was replaced by Ruhakana Rugunda on 23 May 2013. [3] On account of being a cabinet minister she was a member of the Ugandan Parliament, in an ex officio capacity. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, one of the fourteen regional referral hospitals in Uganda.

Education

Christine Ondoa attended Mount Saint Mary's College Namagunga for her high school studies. She holds the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), obtained in 1994, from Makerere University Medical School (MUMS), the oldest medical school in East Africa. She also holds the degree of Master of Medicine in Pediatrics (MMed), obtained in 2000, also from MUMS. In March 2011, she graduated from the Uganda Management Institute with the postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration & Management (Dip.PA&M). In 2012 she graduated from the same institution with the degree of Master of Management Studies (MMS) She has now enrolled in the Institute of National Transformation for her PhD. [4] She did her internship at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya from 1994 until 1995. She stayed on at Nsambya from 1995 until 1997, when she went back to Makerere University Medical School for her postgraduate training in pediatrics. Between 2000 and 2009, she worked in Arua Regional Referral Hospital as a consultant pediatrician. Between 2009 and 2010, she worked at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital as Senior Pediatrician and later promoted to Hospital Director and senior consultant pediatrician. She also served as the chairperson of the governing council for Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery. [5] From January 2011 until May 2011, she worked as the Executive Director at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, the teaching hospital of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). Then from May 2011 to May 2013, she was Uganda's Minister of Health. [6] [7]

Personal details

Dr. Ondoa is the mother of one son named Reuben Azi, born in 1996. She is a Born-again Christian, and was ordained as Pastor, on 23 April 2011, by Bishop Julius Peter Oyet in LifeLine Ministries at Mbuya, Nakawa Division, in Kampala, the capital of Uganda and the largest city in that country. [8] On 28 January 2012, Dr. Christine Ondoa was married to Mr. Thomas Udong P'ongona at Church of the Resurrection, Bugolobi, followed by a reception ceremony held at the Speke Resort and Conference Center at Munyonyo. Makerere University Ugandan public university

Daudi Migereko was the minister of lands, housing and urban development in the cabinet of Uganda. He was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. He replaced Omara Atubo, who was dropped from the cabinet. In the cabinet reshuffle of 2016, the president dropped him from this position and replaced him with Betty Amongi. Mt. St. Mary's College Namagunga is an all-girl boarding secondary school located in Mukono District in Uganda. The school is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lugazi.

The Makerere University School of Medicine (MUSM), also known as the Makerere University Medical School, is the school of medicine of Makerere University, Uganda's oldest and largest public university. The medical school has been part of Makerere University since 1924. The school provides medical education at diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels.

As of 2021, 11 universities in Uganda offer medical schools. Admission to medical school requires the candidate to have attained a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) as well as proficiency in Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics at A-level standards. Training leading to the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) lasts five years. Major examinations are conducted after the first, second and fifth year, with additional evaluations after each clinical rotation. After successful completion of the fifth year, candidates complete a year of internship under the supervision of specialists. Postgraduate training is available at Makerere University School of Medicine in a number of medical and surgical disciplines. The training takes three years and leads to the Master of Medicine (MMed) degree.

She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016, replacing Sarah Achieng Opendi, who became State Minister for Health, General Duties. She also serves as the elected Member of Parliament for Moyo District Women Representative in the 10th Parliament.

Diana Kanzira Atwine, also Diana Atwiine, is a Ugandan medical doctor and civil servant. She is the incumbent Permanent Secretary of the Uganda Ministry of Health. Sabrina Bakeera Kitaka, commonly known as Sabrina Kitaka, is a Ugandan physician, pediatrician, pediatric infectious diseases specialist and academic, who serves as a senior lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics at Makerere University School of Medicine.

Ekwaro Obuku, is a Ugandan physician, researcher, academic and health policy expert, who is the immediate past president of the Uganda Medical Association, a professional industry association, that champions medical doctors' interests in the county. He is also currently, a Doctor of Philosophy candidate at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, in collaboration with McMaster University.
