Christopher Worrell (born 1985/86 [1] ) is an American state politician from Boston,Massachusetts. He represents the 5th Suffolk district in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. [1]
Worrell grew up with his brother,Brian Worrell,on Hewins Street in Dorchester. [1] His parents had moved to Boston from the Caribbean, [2] : 2 hailing from Jamaica and Barbados. [3] In his youth,he participated in METCO,a voluntary school desegregation program in Boston. [4] He then attended and graduated from Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown. [3]
Worrell is the brother of Brian Worrell,a member of the Boston City Council. [5]
In September 2022,Worrell won the Democratic Party primary election. [6] The Boston Globe endorsed Worrell for the state house election. [7]
On March 18,2023,he and his brother Brian,a member of the Boston City Council,opened an office together at 5 Erie Street in Dorchester to provide community support. [1] [8] The office's opening ceremony was attended by several local politicians. [8]
Worrell supports efforts to against racism and encourage diversity, [2] : 2 a progressive tax, [2] : 5 unions, [2] : 8 to expand educational opportunities, [2] : 12 affordable housing, [2] : 19 and more public transit. [2] : 33 He and his brother are also supporting a bill to reform Boston's liquor license system. [9]

Michael F. Flaherty is a politician who served as an at-large member of the Boston City Council for a cumulative ten terms. A member of the Democratic Party,he was first elected to the council in 1999,serving an initial five terms between 2000 until 2010. During this initial tenure,he served as vice president of the council in 2001 and as council president from 2002 to 2006. In 2009 he forwent reelection to a further term in order to run for mayor of Boston in that year's election,which he lost to incumbent mayor Thomas Menino. He ran unsuccessfully in 2011 to return to the council as an at-large member. In 2013,Flaherty again ran in the at-large city council race,and was returned to the council. He served five terms between 2014 and 2024. In 2023,he declined to seek reelection to an additional term.
Freedom House is a nonprofit community-based organization in Roxbury,Massachusetts. Freedom House is located in an area sometimes referred to as Grove Hall that lies along Blue Hill Ave. at the border between the Roxbury and Dorchester neighborhoods of Boston. A non-partisan preliminary election was held on Tuesday,September 24,2013. 12 candidates made the ballot to replace Menino,with state representative Marty Walsh and at-large city councilor John R. Connolly advancing to the general election. Walsh was elected to his first term,defeating Connolly by 3% of the vote,and was inaugurated on Monday,January 6,2014.

Michelle Wu is an American politician serving as the mayor of Boston,Massachusetts,since 2021. The daughter of Taiwanese immigrants,she was the first Asian American woman to serve on the Boston City Council,from 2014 to 2021,and acted as its president from 2016–2018. She is the first woman and first non-white person to have been elected mayor of Boston. At 36 years of age,she is also the youngest individual to have been elected to the position in nearly a century. Wu is a member of the Democratic Party.

Elizabeth Miranda is a Cape Verdean-American community organizer and politician. She is a state senator representing the Massachusetts Senate's 2nd Suffolk district after winning a five-way Democratic Primary Election,and advancing to an uncontested race in the 2022 Massachusetts general election. Prior to that,since January 2019,Miranda had served as the Democratic Massachusetts State Representative for the Fifth Suffolk district. Her district comprises parts of the Dorchester and Roxbury neighborhoods of Boston. She is a member of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus.
The 2021 Boston mayoral election was held on Tuesday,November 2,2021,to elect the mayor of Boston,Massachusetts. Incumbent mayor Marty Walsh was eligible to seek a third term. However,he resigned as mayor on March 22,2021,after being confirmed as secretary of labor in the Cabinet of Joe Biden. This left the Boston City Council president,at the time Kim Janey,to hold the role of acting mayor until the victor of the election would take office.
