Molkue Parker

Chuave District is an Administrative partition, located in Chimbu Province of Papua New Guinea and it is a first electorate in Simbu Province in the first House of Assembly since 1964 with Kerowagi, Gumine and Simbu Districts. An estimate terrain or topography altitude is at 1867 metres above sea level in proximity. In actuality, Chuave District is in the Eastern side of the Chimbu Province and shields the tributary valleys of the Whagi River [Runs from Mt Hagen to Jiwaka down to Gumine famously known Noi that separated Omkolai [Famous end of the World] from Gunagi [Sinesine] to Chuave known Borl Kuwam which estranged the legendary Giriyu Village from tabacloth//Diani/Wagi Villages and further to Karamui] and famous Mt Elimbari with its range and share the Provincial boundary with Eastern Highlands. Chuave shared electoral boundaries with Nomane Karamui, Sine-sine Yongomulg Districts and Daulo, Unggai Bena and Lufa Districts in the Eastern Highlands Province. It has three prominent LLGs [Chuave, Siane & Elimbari]. Hence, Elimbari LLG bring about a short time ago by Late Grand Chief Teine Agiyonga in 1979 when he was a Provincial Government Member due to population and geographic impediments of the area [Beforehand under Chuave LLG]. Chuave District has approximately a total Area of 550 km2 or 210 Square Miles and nearly 40 000 population which is incredibly curbed measure up to other Districts in the Chimbu Province.

Chuave LLG made up of 47 prominent Clans and 13 Ward Councils, Siane LLG with 58 projecting Clans and 27 Ward Councils whereas Elimbari LLG comprised 59 distinct Clans with 16 Ward Councils, respectively. The biggest Ward Clans in the three LLGs are, Goi (Ward 08) has seven Clans (Miopagam, Vaigam, Mogiagam, Ubanogam, Bomai Teine, Guaku and Tonoraku) Chuave LLG, Kereku-Sua (Ward 01) contained seven Clans (Kereku, Suakul, Suakopu, Gomimogul, Kepemugondi, Aurabol and Yaremegori) Siane LLG and Kuraguri (Ward 04) maintained six Clans (Gorokabugam, Koibori, Nime No 01, Tabiekakupa, Tabie No 01 and Tabie No 02) Elimbari LLG.

Chuave consists of 19 Primary Schools, Chuave LLG with six (Silkoge, Agugu, Bawi, Kaubasis, Keu and Eigun_ Teine Agiyonga Memorial Primary Schools), Siane LLG with six (Yandime, Nambaufa, Movi, Pila and Karando Primary Schools) and Elimbari LLG have seven (Gogo_ Teine Agiyonga Memorial, Beroma_ Komane Memorial, Giriyu_ Teine Agiyonga Memorial, Norome_ Teine Agiyonga Memorial, Yorori_ Teine Agiyonga Memorial, Karaweri and Mai_ David Goro Mai Primary Schools). Also two Secondary Schools namely Chuave_ Yauwe Wauwe Moses Memorial and Karaweri_ David Goro Mai Memorial. It has four Health Centres (Chuave, Movi, Wangoi_ Teine Agiyonga Memorial and Beur_ Teine Agiyonga Memorial [closed indefinite times]). There are Government gazetted roads links to all villages or LLGs in the District and some of the few known roads links are Warabago-Wiridani Road, Giriyu Kanma Road and Giriyu Korima road funded by Late Grand chief Teine Agiyonga within 1968-1982 in his political terms. However, one of the biggest Tribes in the Chuave District is the Kenai-Maina Tribe with its own Rest House [Kureiri and Giriyu]. Kenai consists of two ward councils [Ward 5 & 6] and six renowned clans [Yorogu 01, 02 & 03, Auragu, Kumom & Kiragu] while the Maina has two Ward Councils [Ward 07 & 08] with seven prominent Clans [Kama 01, Girmaigam, Maina Gol, Goiyom, Kibidonga, Komungam & Kepai Aura]. There’s other protuberant neighboring Tribes like Kenogu and Mam. Kenogu has one Ward Council [Ward 04] with six active Clans [Gorokabugam, Koibori, Nime01, Tabiekakupa, Tabie01 & 02] and Mam has three Ward Councils [Ward 01, 02 & 03] with 14 major Clans [Kumogereyori, Korul01 & 02, Tabie01 & 02, Morisime, Kumogere, Kaupa, Kurubani, Mamnoriyom, Sakiom, Gogo PTS, Tabie01 & 02]

Thus, Giriyu is well-known in the early 1950s to date due to pioneer political immersion in the Chuave District and first in combat against many tribes in the history of Chimbu Province. Not only this but also, the pioneer Seventh Day Adventist Church Built at Mai/Giriyu Village. →
