Howard Edward Davis Jr. was an American professional boxer. Growing up on Long Island as the eldest of 10 children, Davis first learned boxing from his father. After being inspired by a movie about Muhammad Ali, Davis embarked on his amateur career. He won the 1976 Olympic gold medal one week after his mother died. He was also awarded the Val Barker Trophy at the Olympics, beating out such boxers as Sugar Ray Leonard, Michael Spinks and Leon Spinks.
Volodymyr Stepanovych Holubnychy was a Soviet and Ukrainian race walker, who competed for the Soviet Union. He dominated the 20 kilometre race walk in the 1960s and 1970s, winning four Olympic medals from 1960 to 1972 and finishing seventh in 1976. He became Olympic champion in 1960 and 1968. He is regarded as one of the greatest race walkers of all time and competed at the Olympics on five occasions in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976.

Bernhard "Bernd" Kannenberg was a West German race walker who won the 50 km event at the 1972 Summer Olympics. He also competed in the 20 km at the 1972 and 1976 Games, but failed to finish. In 1972 Kannenberg became the first German athlete to walk 50 km within four hours; the same year he was awarded the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt. During his career he set five world records, and won six outdoor and four indoor West German titles.

He was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Aged 50 when he made his final Olympic appearance in 1976, he is the oldest person ever to compete in a track and field event at the Olympics.
Luke Kendall Adams is a male race walker from Australia, who was born in Tanzania. His parents worked as medical missionaries. He is a three-time Olympian for Australia. On 23 June 2000, he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal.
Reima Untamo Salonen is a retired race walker from Finland, known for winning the gold medal in the men's 50 km Walk event at the 1982 European Championships in Athens, Greece. A former world record holder, he represented his native country in three Summer Olympics.
Charles Thomas Vinci Jr. was an American weightlifter and Olympic champion. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Vinci was the United States Senior National Champion from 1954 to 1956 and from 1958 to 1961. He received silver medals in the 1955 and 1958 world championships. He won gold medals at the 1955 and 1959 Pan American games. He won a gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, with a world-record three-lift total of 342.5 kilograms (755.1 lb). Just prior to weighing-in, Vinci was 1.5 pounds overweight. After an hour of running and sweating, he was still seven ounces over the limit, but a severe last-minute haircut saw him make the weight limit. He won gold again at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.
Ronald ("Ron") Owen Laird was a race walker from the United States, who competed for the New York Athletic Club. He represented his native country at four Olympiads. His best finish was 19th place in the men's 50 km walk at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy. He won the 20 km event at the 1967 Pan American Games, and finished 25th in that event in the Mexico City 1968 Summer Olympics and 20th in the Montreal 1976 Summer Olympics, but was disqualified in the 1964 Summer Olympics event in Tokyo.
Charles Frick Darling was an American basketball player who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics. Born in Denison, Iowa, Darling played collegiately at the University of Iowa. He was selected by the Rochester Royals in the first round of the 1952 NBA draft, but chose not to pursue a career in professional basketball. Instead, he was a member of the American basketball team that won the Olympic gold medal in 1956. He was a member of the Des Moines Register's Iowa Sports Hall of Fame. He died in Littleton, Colorado at the age of 91.
Charles Clinton Lyda was an American slalom and sprint canoeist who competed in the mid-to-late 1970s. He won two gold medals in the mixed C-2 event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, earning them in 1975 and 1977.

Sherron Walker is an American athlete. She competed in the women's long jump at the 1976 Summer Olympics. In 2012, Walker was inducted into the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame.
Louise Hanna-Walker is a Canadian former athlete. She competed in the women's high jump at the 1972 Summer Olympics and the 1976 Summer Olympics. She won a silver medal at the 1974 Commonwealth Games, and another silver medal at the Pan American Games in 1975.
