Clare Brunson (born November 6, 1989 [1] ) is a retired elite acrobatic gymnast who competed as the top in a mixed-pair team with elite acrobatic gymnast Michael Rodrigues, also now retired.

Brunson and Rodrigues were the second U.S. mixed pair (after Arthur Davis and Shenea Booth) to medal at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, earning the bronze medal in the all-around at the 2006 World Championships in Coimbra, Portugal. [2]

Also in 2006, Rodrigues and Brunson won the all-around silver medal at the 2006 World Cup in Puurs, Belgium, [3] and they won the all-around, dynamic and balance at the U.S. National Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships for the second straight year. [4]

In 2005, Rodrigues and Brunson placed fourth all-around at the 2005 World Games in Duisburg, Germany. [5]

Brunson and Rodrigues also won their first national all-around title in 2005, placing first in the all-around, dynamic and balance at the 2005 U.S. National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. [6]

The pair trained together at Empire AcroGymnastics in Riverside, California, Mission Hills Gymnastics, also in Riverside, [7] and Realis Gymnastics Academy in Moreno Valley, California. Their coaches included Youri Vorobyev, who is now owner and head coach [8] of Realis Gymnastics Academy. [9]

Prior to her partnership with Rodrigues, Brunson also competed as the top in a mixed pair with elite acrobatic gymnast Kristopher Duncan (now retired). Brunson and Duncan trained together at Empire AcroGymnastics. [10]

Brunson and Duncan placed second all-around in the 12–19 category at the 2004 International Age Group Games in Liévin, France. [11]

The pair also placed second all-around at the U.S. National Championships in Palm Springs, California, where they also earned second-place finishes in dynamic and balance. [12]

Prior to her partnership with Duncan, Brunson competed as the top in a women’s pair with acrobatic gymnast Olivia Solo (now retired). In 2002, the pair won the all-around at the Flanders International Acro Cup in Puurs, [13] and they placed second all-around at the 2002 World Age Group Games in Riesa, Germany. [14]

Brunson and Solo placed second all-around at the 2002 U.S. National Championships in New Orleans. [15] The pair trained together at Empire. [16]

While Brunson competed as an elite athlete, she also worked as a performer at SeaWorld in San Diego and at the San Diego Zoo. [17]

Domestically, the pair have won national titles in 2008 and 2010. She competed for the United States of America Gymnastics from 2001 until her retirement in August 2010 and spent five of those years on the Senior National Team.

Marie Annonson is a retired elite acrobatic gymnast who currently owns the acrobatic gymnastics facility West Coast Training Center (WCTC) in Livermore, California.

Youri Germanovich Vorobyev is a Soviet-born coach of acrobatic gymnastics who produced more than a dozen world-championship acrobatic gymnasts during his coaching career in the Soviet Union and Russia.

Edward Robin Upcott is a five times British acrobatic gymnast champion who was world men's pairs champion in partnership with Doug Fordyce, winning the gold medal in July 2010 in Poland. Before his partnership with Fordyce, Upcott was in partnership with Mark Fyson, who retired in 2009 after the pair had won the bronze medal in the 2008 world championships in Glasgow. With his new partner Adam McAssey, Upcott was awarded the silver medal in the 2012 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships.

The Pan American Gymnastics Union organizes Pan American Gymnastics Championships in different disciplines of gymnastics: men's and women's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatic gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling, as well as aerobic gymnastics. The Pan American Gymnastics Championships are considered by the International Gymnastics Federation to be the official continental championships for the Americas. Pan American Championships have also been organized for the sport of aesthetic group gymnastics.
