Wilbert Ross Thatcher,was the ninth premier of Saskatchewan,serving from May 22,1964 to June 30,1971. He led the Saskatchewan Liberal Party in four general elections,in 1960,1964,1967 and 1971. Thatcher was defeated in his first election in 1960,but won the next two elections in 1964 and 1967 with majority governments. Following his defeat in the general election of 1971,he retired from politics and died shortly afterwards.
David Milgaard was a Canadian man who was wrongfully convicted for the 1969 rape and murder of nursing student Gail Miller in Saskatoon and imprisoned for 23 years. He was eventually released and exonerated. Up until his death,he lived in Alberta and was employed as a community support worker. Milgaard was also a public speaker who advocated for the wrongfully convicted and for all prisoners' rights.
Guy Clarence Vanderhaeghe is a Canadian novelist and short story writer,best known for his Western novel trilogy,The Englishman's Boy,The Last Crossing,and A Good Man set in the 19th-century American and Canadian West. Vanderhaeghe has won three Governor General's Awards for his fiction,one for his short story collection Man Descending in 1982,the second for his novel The Englishman's Boy in 1996,and the third for his short story collection Daddy Lenin and Other Stories in 2015.
Marjorie May "Maggie" Siggins is a Canadian journalist and writer. She was a recipient of the 1992 Governor General's Award for Literary Merit for her non-fiction work Revenge of the Land:A Century of Greed,Tragedy and Murder on a Saskatchewan Farm. She was also the recipient of the 1986 Arthur Ellis Award for "Best true crime book" for her work A Canadian Tragedy,about the involvement of former Saskatchewan politician Colin Thatcher in the murder of his wife JoAnn Wilson. The book was later adapted into the television miniseries Love and Hate:The Story of Colin and JoAnn Thatcher.

Evatt Francis Anthony "Tony" Merchant,is a Canadian lawyer,businessman,and former politician. His law firm Merchant Law Group LLP,which he founded in 1986,is best known for representing former students of Indian residential schools in the $1.9 billion Indian Residential School Settlement in 2006,the largest class-action settlement in Canadian history. Prior to founding his law firm,Merchant represented Regina Wascana in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal member. Merchant was named a Queen's Counsel in 1995.

Eugene Lipinski is a British-Canadian character actor and screenwriter. He was born in Wansford Camp,Soke of Peterborough,England,and raised in Regina,Saskatchewan,Canada. He began acting at the age of twelve in amateur theatre. After graduating from the University of Regina,he returned to the UK and attended the Royal Academy of Arts as well as the Drama Studio London.
Serge Kujawa was a Canadian politician and lawyer. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1991 to 1995,as a New Democratic Party member for the constituency of Regina Albert South. He was born in 1925 in Radin,Poland and came to Canada at the age of 3,in 1928. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (1957) and Bachelor of Laws (1958) degree. Kujawa became a prosecutor in the Saskatchewan Department of Justice,and rose to great eminence,arguing many cases before the Supreme Court of Canada. He achieved national fame by overseeing the investigation of Saskatchewan politician Colin Thatcher after the murder of Thatcher's ex-wife in 1983;and then,in 1984,by successfully prosecuting Thatcher for first degree murder. Kujawa married Betty Brydges in 1954 and had six children. He died in 2014,aged 89.
Jo-Ann Episkenew was a Métis writer originally from Manitoba,though she lived in Saskatchewan for much of her life. She held a Masters of Business Administration and a Honours Certificate M.A. from the University of Regina. In 2006,she completed a Ph.D. at Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University in Greifswald,Germany,the first Indigenous Canadian to receive a Ph.D. from a German university.
Dellen Millard and Mark Smich are two Canadian convicted murderers from Toronto,Ontario,who together murdered Laura Babcock and Tim Bosma in separate killings in July 2012 and May 2013 respectively. They were both convicted of the murders in December 2017 and June 2016,respectively. Millard has also been convicted individually of first-degree murder for the 2012 death of his father,Wayne Millard,which had initially been deemed a suicide,but was later reinvestigated. The guilty verdict for that charge was delivered on September 24,2018.
Love and Hate:The Story of Colin and JoAnn Thatcher is a Canadian television miniseries,directed by Bruce Pittman and broadcast by CBC Television in 1989. Based on Maggie Siggins's 1985 book A Canadian Tragedy:JoAnn and Colin Thatcher:A Story of Love and Hate,the film dramatizes the story of Colin Thatcher,a former Canadian politician who was convicted in 1984 of the murder of his ex-wife JoAnn following their divorce.
On September 4,2022,Myles Sanderson killed 11 and injured 18 people in mass stabbing at 13 locations on the James Smith Cree Nation and in Weldon,Saskatchewan,Canada. Some of the victims are believed to have been targeted,while others were randomly attacked. It is one of the deadliest massacres in Canadian history.
