The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) is the governing body for all high school activities throughout the state of Colorado. The Northern Colorado Bears are the athletic teams representing the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado in intercollegiate athletics. Lathrop State Park is a Colorado state park located 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Walsenburg. The state purchased the property in 1962 and opened Colorado's first state park here later that same year. The program includes 7 men's sports: baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, tennis, and wrestling.
