The Players Championship is an annual golf tournament on the PGA Tour. Originally known as the Tournament Players Championship, it began in 1974. The Players Championship at one point offered the highest purse of any tournament in golf. The field usually includes the top 50 players in the world rankings, but, unlike the major championships, it is owned by the PGA Tour and not an official event on other tours.
Tournament Players Club (TPC) is a chain of public and private golf courses operated by the PGA Tour. Most of the courses either are or have been hosts for PGA Tour events, with the remainder having frequently hosted events on the Korn Ferry Tour or PGA Tour Champions. The Korn Ferry Tour Finals is a series of four golf tournaments that conclude the season on the Korn Ferry Tour. The finals are contested in a playoff format, similar to the FedEx Cup playoffs on the PGA Tour, with players eliminated after each of the first three tournaments. At the end of the Finals, the top 30 players on the season-long points list earn PGA Tour membership for the following season.
The WinCo Foods Portland Open was a golf tournament in Oregon on the Korn Ferry Tour. It debuted in August 2014 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, a suburb northwest of Portland. Northwest-based supermarket chain WinCo Foods was named as the title sponsor in June 2013. After a seven-year run, the tournament was removed from the Korn Ferry Tour schedule in 2021 due to WinCo Foods ending its title sponsorship.

In 2021, this tournament was the first ever recipient of two Korn Ferry Tour awards in a singular year; Tournament of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

It was played in July 2020 on the Canyons Course at TPC San Antonio near San Antonio, Texas. David Lipsky won the tournament by four strokes over Taylor Pendrith; both would finish the 2020–21 Korn Ferry Tour season inside the top 25 in points, thereby earning promotion to the PGA Tour.

The tournament was one of several added to the Korn Ferry Tour schedule in 2020 as part of adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was played in July 2020 on the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio near San Antonio, Texas; the course also hosts the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open. Davis Riley won the tournament by four strokes over Paul Barjon and Taylor Pendrith; all three would finish the 2020–21 Korn Ferry Tour season inside the top 25 in points, thereby earning promotion to the PGA Tour.
The Veritex Bank Championship is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It was first played in April 2021 at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas; it had been scheduled to be played in 2020, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 Players Championship was the 49th Players Championship, held March 10–14 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It was the 41st edition at the Stadium Course and concluded on Monday due to weather delays. The purse was increased by a third this year to twenty million dollars.
