History

Compass Lexecon LLC was formed in January 2008 through the combination of the economic consulting firm Competition Policy Associates (COMPASS), founded in 2003, and the competition law firm Lexecon, founded in 1977. [7]

In May 2013, Compass Lexecon acquired Princeton Economics Group, which provides economic research, data analysis and testimony to law firms and corporations. [8]

Daniel R. Fischel is the emeritus Lee and Brena Freeman Professor of Law and Business and former Dean of University of Chicago Law School. He co-founded Lexecon, and is now chairman and president of Compass Lexecon.

Lexecon Inc. v. Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach, 523 U.S. 26 (1998), was a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court unanimously held that a district court conducting coordinated pretrial proceedings in multiple cases by designation of the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation under 28 U.S.C. § 1407(a) has no authority to reassign a transferred case to itself for the actual trial of the case. The Court's decision overturned numerous lower-court decisions upholding what had become a common practice in multi-district cases.

Jonathan Marc Orszag is an American economist and former government official. He is a Senior Consultant at and Co-Founder of Compass Lexecon, LLC, an economic consulting firm. Until November 2023, he served as a Senior Managing Director at Compass Lexecon. Orszag sold Compass to FTI Consulting, Inc. in 2006. His work has been recognized in The International Who's Who of Competition Economists and Global Competition Review. During the Bill Clinton administration, Orszag served within the National Economic Council (NEC) as an economic policy advisor.

William M. "Bill" Isaac was the Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) from August 3, 1981 through October 21, 1985. He was appointed to the FDIC Board of Directors by President Jimmy Carter in 1978 at the age of 34 and was named Chairman of the FDIC in 1981 by President Reagan.
