Route 181 is a rural state highway in northern Connecticut, running from Barkhamsted to Hartland.
Route 181 begins as River Road at an intersection with US 44 in southern Barkhamsted. The road heads north into the village of Pleasant Valley, where it briefly overlaps Route 318 across the West Branch Farmington River. Immediately after the river crossing, it intersects with East River Road, an unsigned state highway designated as Special Service Road 482, providing access to Peoples State Forest and leading to the village of Riverton. After 0.6 miles (0.97 km), Route 181 turns northeast to follow Center Hill Road towards the Barkhamsted Reservoir. It continues north parallel to, but not quite along, the west side of the reservoir towards the town of Hartland, passing by Barkhamsted Center along the way. In Hartland, it continues for another 1.9 miles (3.1 km) before ending at an intersection with Route 20 in Hartland center. [1]
A section of Route 181 in Barkhamsted from the southern terminus to the northern end of the overlap with Route 318 is designated as a scenic road. [1]
Route 181 was commissioned in 1932, running from Barkhamsted to Granby. It originally went east across a road that has been submerged by the Barkhamsted Reservoir, and continued east of Route 179 along modern Route 219 to Route 20 in Granby. The reservoir was created in 1940, splitting the route into two. As a result, Route 181 was relocated to its current route along the west side of the reservoir, ending at its current terminus at Route 20. The eastern part of the route became SR 721, which was later reassigned in 1960 as an extension of Route 219. [2]

U.S. Route 5 (US 5) is a north–south United States Numbered Highway running through the New England states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Significant cities along the route include New Haven, Connecticut; Hartford, Connecticut; and Springfield, Massachusetts. From Hartford northward to St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the road closely follows the route of the Connecticut River.
New Hampshire Route 10 is a 122.25-mile-long (196.74 km) north–south state highway in western New Hampshire, United States. Its southern terminus is in Winchester at the Massachusetts state line, where it continues south as Massachusetts Route 10. Administratively, the northern terminus is at a junction with U.S. Route 302 in Haverhill.

Route 20 consists of two distinct sections: a long, winding, scenic rural road, and a section of the freeway linking I-91 to Bradley International Airport.
New York State Route 116 (NY 116) is an east–west state highway in Westchester County, New York, in the United States. It extends for 8.12 miles (13.07 km) from an intersection with U.S. Route 202 (US 202) in the town of Somers to the Connecticut state line, where it becomes that state's Route 116. As it heads east, NY 116 connects to Interstate 684 (I-684) and has an overlap with NY 121. NY 116 originally extended as far west as Peekskill when it was assigned as part of the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York. It was cut back to its current length in the late 1930s.
Connecticut Route 10 is a state highway that runs between New Haven and the state line near Granby. It continues north of the state line as Massachusetts Route 10, which in turn continues directly to New Hampshire Route 10.

Route 109 is a state highway in western Connecticut, running from New Milford to Thomaston.
Route 187 is a 27.23-mile-long (43.82 km) secondary state route in the U.S. states of Connecticut and Massachusetts. It begins in the city of Hartford at Albany Avenue, travels north through the towns of Bloomfield, Windsor, East Granby and Suffield until the Connecticut-Massachusetts state line. Route 187 continues north across the state line through Agawam into Westfield, where the route ends at US 20 east of Westfield center. Route 187 crosses the Farmington River between the towns of Bloomfield and East Granby.
Route 179 is a state highway in northern Connecticut, running from Burlington to Hartland.
Route 189 is a 22.43-mile-long (36.10 km) state route in the U.S. states of Connecticut and Massachusetts. The route begins in the northwestern portion of the Connecticut state capital of Hartford and ends in the rural town of Granville. In Massachusetts, the route is not a state highway and is maintained by the town of Granville.
Route 195 is a state highway in northeastern Connecticut, running from the Willimantic section of Windham to the town center of Tolland via the Storrs section of Mansfield. The road is the main thoroughfare to access the main campus of the University of Connecticut.
State Route 219 is part of Maine's system of numbered state highways, located in the western central part of the state. It runs for 35.1 miles (56.5 km) from the town center of Greenwood to an intersection with State Route 133 in Wayne.
U.S. Route 44 (US 44) is an east–west United States Numbered Highway that runs for 237 miles (381 km) through four states in the Northeastern United States. The western terminus is at US 209 and New York State Route 55 (NY 55) in Kerhonkson, New York, a hamlet in the Hudson Valley region. The eastern terminus is at Route 3A in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
