"Control" is a song by American pop band Metro Station. It was released on December 17, 2007, as the second single from their debut self-titled studio album. [2] The song was released as the debut single in the UK in the spring of 2009. [3]

Contents

Background and release

"Control" was written by Mason Musso, Trace Cyrus, Blake Healy and Anthony Improgo while production was handled by S*A*M and Sluggo. [4] The band performed the track on AOL Live Sessions. [5]

The song was serviced to alternative radio on December 17, 2007. [2] It was released digitally on August 19, 2008, containing a remix by Weird Science. [6] The song was released as the debut single in the UK in March 2009. [3]

Critical reception

Joe DeAndrea of AbsolutePunk.net stated that the track, "starts off as slow but then quickly picks up the pace while a catchy chorus grabs a hold of your ears and doesn't let go." [7] Nat Morris of AltSounds noted that the song has a "'single' vibe to them." [8] Mary Huhn of New York Post called the song, "An inescapable electronic party track." [9] Mackenzie Hall of Alternative Press remarked, "the chorus of 'Control' is the perfect thing to scream along to while speeding along country highways at midnight." [1]

Music video

The music video for "Control" was released in March 2008 and was directed by Josh Forbes. [10] The concept of the video showcases a house party taking place, with the band performing the track, as well as guitarist and vocalist Trace Cyrus making out with girls during the song's chorus. [11]

So Wrong, It's Right is the second studio album and major label debut by American rock band All Time Low. Following an unsuccessful showcase for Fueled by Ramen, Hopeless Records signed All Time Low in March 2006. They released an EP, Put Up or Shut Up, through the label in July of that year. After amassing 12 songs by January 2007, the band demoed some of them for Paul Leavitt. The group began recording So Wrong, It's Right in April at SOMD Studios in Beltsville, Maryland with producers Leavitt and Matt Squire. The band wrote five additional songs while in the studio. Following an acoustic tour in June, the band participated in Warped Tour, and "Dear Maria, Count Me In" was made available for streaming. After premiering a music video for "Six Feet Under the Stars", So Wrong, It's Right was released on September 25. The band spent the next three months supporting Boys Like Girls on their US tour.

Metro Station was an American pop rock band that was formed in Los Angeles, California by singer Mason Musso and bassist/guitarist Trace Cyrus. In late 2006, the band signed a recording contract with Columbia Records and RED Ink Records. The band is best known for the commercially successful hit single "Shake It" from the group's self-titled debut album. In 2010, tension between Cyrus and Musso caused the band to go on hiatus. In 2011, the band returned, however, it was announced that Cyrus was no longer a part of the group and Musso had purchased the rights to the name.
