Coppervale Ski Area is a small ski area in Lassen County, California, 18 miles from Susanville. Established in the late 1930s, the area has been owned and operated by Lassen Community College since the 1960s. [2]

State Route 89 is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that travels in the north–south direction, serving as a major thoroughfare for many mountain communities in the Sierra Nevada and the Cascade Range. It starts from U.S. Route 395 near Topaz Lake, winding its way up to the 8,314-foot (2,534 m) Monitor Pass, down to the Carson River, and up again over the 7,740-foot (2,359 m) Luther Pass. From that point on, the route generally loses elevation on its way past Lake Tahoe, through Tahoe and Plumas National Forests until Lake Almanor. For roughly nine miles the route is then a part of State Route 36. The route then ascends to the 5,753-foot (1,754 m) Morgan Summit. After it enters Lassen Volcanic National Park it continues to gain elevation until it reaches its highest point in an unnamed pass in the middle of Lassen Peak and Bumpass Mountain. The road then descends and heads northwest, finally terminating at Interstate 5 at the foot of Mount Shasta at around 3,600 feet (1,100 m).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lake Helen (California)</span> Lake in the state of California, United States

Lake Helen is a glacial lake or a tarn occupying a cirque at around 8,200 feet in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The lake is located to the south of Lassen Peak and west of Bumpass Mountain in the Shasta Cascades region of Northern California. Highway 89 runs along the lake's southern and eastern shore. The lake is named for Helen Tanner Brodt who in 1864 became the first white woman to reach the summit of Lassen Peak.

Coppervale is an unincorporated community in Lassen County, California. It is located 6 miles (9.7 km) east-northeast of Westwood, at an elevation of 5203 feet. Its name is derived from the early copper mining activity that once took place.

There are 28 routes assigned to the "A" zone of the California Route Marker Program, which designates county routes in California. The "A" zone includes county highways in Lassen, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dixie Fire</span> 2021 North American wildfire

The Dixie Fire was an enormous wildfire in Butte, Plumas, Lassen, Shasta, and Tehama Counties, California. It was named after Dixie Road, near where the fire started in Butte County. The fire began in the Feather River Canyon near Cresta Dam on July 13, 2021, and burned 963,309 acres (389,837 ha) before being 100% contained on October 25, 2021. It was the largest single wildfire in recorded California history, and the second-largest wildfire overall. The fire damaged or destroyed several small towns or communities, including Greenville on August 4, Canyondam on August 5, and Warner Valley on August 12.

Sitzmark Ski Area is a small ski area near the community of Havillah, Okanogan County, Washington, 20 miles (32 km) northeast of the city of Tonasket. The area's 10 named trails, covering 80 skiable acres, are located on Knob Hill. The base elevation is at 4,300 feet (1,300 m) and the top at 4,950 feet (1,510 m), yielding a vertical drop of 650 feet (200 m). Its slopes are served by one double chairlift and one rope tow.
