Coronado High School is located high on Mesa Road and Fillmore Street, on a mesa overlooking Colorado Springs, with a view of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods.

The school's colors are scarlet red and new gold, and the mascot is the Cougar.

Coronado has 19 sports programs, including 7 during the fall, 5 during the winter, and 7 during the spring. [3] The school currently competes at the 5-A athletics level.

In 2008, First Robotics Competition Team 2996 "Cougars Gone Wired" was founded. Team 2996 has won a regional event on 3 separate occasions. [4]

Coronado students produce a weekly television show for the student body, which is viewable on the school's YouTube channel. [5]

Theater

Thespian Troupe 3397 has been putting on performances through the school's theater department since 2014. [6]

Its campus includes the Auburn Performing Arts Center (PAC), the Auburn School District Swimming Pool, Auburn Memorial Stadium, tennis courts, softball field and baseball field. Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, staff and students will move into the new Auburn High School located at 711 East Main Street in Auburn. Construction of the new school building began on February 24, 2013, following the November 2012 Bond Election, in which Auburn District voters authorized the selling of bonds to fund the new high school building. The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) is the governing body for all high school activities throughout the state of Colorado. It was founded in 1921, and as of the 2019–20 school year has a membership of 360 full-time high schools, plus more than 50 middle and junior high schools, for a total of more than 400 schools. The Association hold championships for 29 different sports for both boys and girls, plus competitions in music, sportsmanship, student council, and spirit.

Northern Indiana Athletic Conference

The Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) is a high school athletic conference that was founded in 1927 and spanned from as far west as Hammond and Gary to South Bend/Mishawaka and Elkhart to the east and south to Plymouth. Since its start in 1927, a total of 32 separate schools have at one time called the NIC home. From its inception until 1963, the conference had been divided into East and West divisions. The West Division left to form the Northwestern Conference in 1963. With membership dwindling to 7 members by the 1970s, the conference added former members of the Northern Indiana Valley Conference to its ranks. Currently, every former NIVC member is now a part of the NIC except for South Bend Jackson, which closed in 1973, and South Bend LaSalle, which joined the NIC in 1977, but closed in 2001.
