The 8th Costume Designers Guild Awards, given on February 26, 2006, honored the best costume designs in film and television for 2005. Winners highlighted in bold.
The Costume Designers Guild, Local 892, is a union of professional costume designers, assistant costume designers, and illustrators working in film, television, commercials and other media. The CDG is not an employment agency, it is a labor union. As a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the CDG protects member’s wages and working conditions through collective bargaining. There are many additional benefits to being a member, among them health insurance and a pension, as well as being a part of a vibrant community of over 1200 members, as of July 2021, who shape future policy through participation, share ideas, and support each other.
The BAFTA Award for Best Costume Design is one of the annual film awards given by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Patricia Zipprodt was an American costume designer. She was known for her technique of painting fabrics and thoroughly researching a project's subject matter, especially when it was a period piece. During a career that spanned four decades, she worked with such Broadway theatre legends as Jerome Robbins, Harold Prince, Gower Champion, David Merrick, and Bob Fosse.
Alice in Wonderland is a 2010 American live-action/animated dark fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay written by Linda Woolverton. The film stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover, Matt Lucas, and Mia Wasikowska, and features the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, and Timothy Spall. Loosely inspired by Lewis Carroll's fantasy novels, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and Walt Disney's 1951 animated film of the same name, the film tells the story of a nineteen-year-old Alice Kingsleigh, who is told that she can restore the White Queen to her throne, with the help of the Mad Hatter. She is the only one who can slay the Jabberwocky, a dragon-like creature that is controlled by the Red Queen and terrorizes Underland's inhabitants. In this situation, the Hatter and Alice fights against the Red Queen to protect the world.
The 11th Costume Designers Guild Awards, honouring the best costume designs in film and television for 2008, will be given on February 17, 2009. The nominees were announced on January 13, 2009.
The 83rd Academy Awards ceremony, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 2010 in the United States and took place on February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST. During the ceremony, Academy Awards were presented in 24 competitive categories. The ceremony was televised in the United States by ABC, and produced by Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer, with Mischer also serving as director. Actors James Franco and Anne Hathaway co-hosted the ceremony, marking the first time for each.
The 12th Costume Designers Guild Awards, honoring the best costume designs in film and television for 2009, were given on February 25, 2010. The nominees were announced on January 26, 2010.
The 64th British Academy Film Awards, more commonly known as the BAFTAs, were held on 13 February 2011 at the Royal Opera House in London, honouring the best national and foreign films of 2010. The nominations were announced on 18 January 2011. Presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, accolades are handed out for the best feature-length film and documentaries of any nationality that were screened at British cinemas in 2010. The King's Speech earned the most nominations with fourteen and won seven, including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Best Actor for Colin Firth, Best Supporting Actor for Geoffrey Rush, Best Supporting Actress for Helena Bonham Carter, and Best Original Screenplay for David Seidler. Natalie Portman won Best Actress for Black Swan and David Fincher won Best Director for The Social Network.
The 15th Satellite Awards is an award ceremony honoring the year's outstanding performers, films, television shows, home videos and interactive media, presented by the International Press Academy at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, Los Angeles.

The 15th Art Directors Guild Awards, which were given on February 5, 2011, honored the best production designers of 2010.
The 61st American Cinema Editors Eddie Awards, which were presented on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, honored the best editors in films and television.
The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Period Costumes is presented as part of the Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2015, categories for period/fantasy and contemporary costumes were created. The categories were divided in 2018 for period and fantasy/sci-fi costumes. They replaced the retired categories for Outstanding Costumes for a Miniseries, Movie, or Special and Outstanding Costumes for a Series.
