Covenant Worship is an American Christian music worship band from Dallas. The group formed at Covenant Church, an interdenominational congregation, while the church was established by pastors Mike and Kathy Hayes in 1976. The group released, Heaven on Earth in 2009 and Never Going Back in 2010 independently. They have released 4 live albums, Standing in 2012, Kingdom in 2014, Take Heart in 2016 and Sand and Stars in 2017. In May 2017, after the release of Sand and Stars, worship pastors David and Nicole Binion (with daughter Madison "Gracie" Binion or MDSN) felt God was telling them that their time with Covenant Church was coming to an end. [1] Since then Covenant Worship has released 2 live albums, 1 studio albums(with Covenant Church youth worship group Cov Kid), and 1 instrumental album. [2]

Background

Covenant Worship is from Dallas, where they began in 2009 [3] [4] with four members, David Binion, Nicole Binion, Joshua Dufrene, and Colin Edge, while they were members of Covenant Church, an interdenominational congregation, founded by pastors Mike and Kathy Hayes, in 1976. [3] [4] [5]

Music history

The band started as a musical entity in 2009, with their first independently-made album, Heaven on Earth and it was released on October 27, 2009, from Covenant Worship. [6] The album was their breakthrough release on the Billboard chart, where it peaked at No. 29 on the Gospel Albums chart. [7] Their next album, a studio album, Standing, [8] was released on August 7, 2012, by Integrity Music. [9] The album charted on three Billboard magazine charts, reaching No. 138 on The Billboard 200, No. 2 on Christian Albums, and No. 19 on the Independent Albums chart. [10] They released, Kingdom , on July 1, 2014, with Integrity Media. [11] That album was No. 113 on The Billboard 200, [12] and No. 2 on the Christian Albums chart. [13] They released, Take Heart, on February 26, 2016, with Integrity Music. [14]

Benita Jones is an American gospel musician, recording artist, singer, songwriter, and worship leader. She started her music career, in 2004, with the release of Hold On by Light Records. This album was her breakthrough on the Billboard magazine charts, debuting at number 6 on the Gospel Albums chart. Since her debut album in 2004, Jones has released four more projects to date.

Dustin Ray Smith is an American Christian musician. His first release with Integrity Music was in 2012, You Are the Fire. This album was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine Heatseekers Albums chart. The subsequent release, Rushing Waters, was just a re-release of You Are the Fire with a bonus DVD disc, but minus the 3 studio tracks. It failed to chart. In 2014 he released a fresh album called Coming Alive, and this charted on the aforementioned chart alongside a charting on the Christian Albums chart.

Hannah Rose Cox, who goes by the stage name Hannah Rose, is an American Pop musician. She released a studio album, Hannah Rose, with Dream Records, in 2013. She won the NashNext competition as a country-music artist. In 2020, Hannah Rose returned to her pop music roots and in 2021 released her first single “Tidal Wave” on all streaming platforms. She has since released five other singles including “Karma”, “Everything”, and “Tears on a Saturday”, which Hannah Rose produced herself.

John Wesley Tibbs is an American Christian musician, who showcases his signature southern heartland roots rock sound, with biblically based autobiographical lyricism. He has released three independently-made extended plays, Origins in 2010, Swallowing Death, Breathing Life in 2012, and Anchor in 2013. His first major-label release, Dead Man Walking, is released by Fair Trade Services, in late October 2015. The single, "Dead Man Walking", featuring Ellie Holcomb, has broken through on the Billboard magazine Christian Airplay chart. His first studio album, Dead Man Walking, was released on February 5, 2016, from Fair Trade Services alongside Columbia Records. He released his independent project, Heartland, in October 2017.

Brian Mark Johnson is an American contemporary worship musician and worship pastor. He is the president and co-founder of Bethel Music, as well as a member of its Artist Collective and is one-half of the husband-and-wife worship duo, Brian & Jenn Johnson. He is also a senior worship pastor at Bethel Church in Redding, California, and a Senior Overseer of WorshipU, an online school of worship under Bethel Music, which he co-founded with Jenn Johnson.

Peace is the second studio album by Bethel Music, and their nineteenth full-length overall. It was released on April 10, 2020, through its own imprint label, Bethel Music. The featured worship leaders on the album are Cory Asbury, Jonathan David & Melissa Helser, Josh Baldwin, Amanda Lindsey Cook, Brian Johnson, Jenn Johnson, with Kari Jobe and We The Kingdom appearing as guests. Ed Cash collaborated with and Steven Taylor in the production of the album.
