"Sandy" Randt Jr. is an American lawyer and diplomat who served as the United States Ambassador to the People's Republic of China from July 28,2001 to January 20,2009,making him the longest-serving U.S. Ambassador to China. Randt was formerly a partner with the law firm of Shearman &Sterling in Hong Kong,where he headed the firm's China practice.

Wayne is co-chair of the Mexico Institute's Advisory Board at the Wilson Center. He is also on the board of the American Academy of Diplomacy and the Public Diplomacy Council of America. Wayne is an independent consultant,speaker and writer and works with several not-for-profit professional associations. He was an adviser for HSBC Latin America on improving management of financial crime risk from 2015 until 2019 and served on the board of the American Foreign Service Association from 2017 to 2019.
