Beat Happening was an American indie pop band formed in Olympia, Washington, in 1982. Calvin Johnson, Heather Lewis, and Bret Lunsford have been the band's continual members. Beat Happening were early leaders in the American indie pop and lo-fi movements, noted for their use of primitive recording techniques, disregard for the technical aspects of musicianship, and songs with subject matters of a carefree or coy nature.
Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era is a compilation album of American psychedelic and garage rock singles that were released during the mid-to-late 1960s. It was created by Lenny Kaye, who was a writer and clerk at the Village Oldies record shop in New York. He would later become the lead guitarist for the Patti Smith Group. Kaye produced Nuggets under the supervision of Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman. Kaye conceived the project as a series of roughly eight LP installments focusing on different US regions, but Elektra convinced him that one double album would be more commercially viable. It was released on LP by Elektra in 1972 with liner notes by Kaye that contained one of the first uses of the term "punk rock". It was reissued with a new cover design by Sire Records in 1976. In the 1980s, Rhino Records issued Nuggets in a series of fifteen installments, and in 1998 as a 4-cd box set.

Beat Happening is the debut album by American rock band Beat Happening, released in November 1985 through K Records. After the end of their previous group and guitarist Calvin Johnson and drummer Heather Lewis formed Beat Happening. To help with a gig, guitarist Bret Lunsford joined them soon after. Between November 1983 and February 1985, the band recorded several tracks that subsequently appeared on different versions of their debut album. Two of the recording sessions were produced by Greg Sage of the Wipers, taking place at The Firehouse and Yoyo, both places located in Olympia, Washington. Other tracks were done at Johnson's residence at the Martin Apartments and with friend Pat Maley in a recital hall on the campus of Evergreen State College.

Lashes to Ashes, Lust to Dust: A Vinyl Retrospective '96–'03 is a vinyl box set as well as the second box set by Finnish rock band HIM. The box set contains the band's first four albums on 180-gram virgin vinyl in gatefold packaging and a USB drive with 37 bonus tracks, 80 tracks all together, all remastered. It was the last box set to be released by the band before their disbandment in 2017. The set also contains their first commercially released EP, 666 Ways to Love: Prologue.
Scream Loud!!! The Fenton Story is a garage rock compilation consisting of songs released by Fenton Records in Grand Rapids, Michigan and the assorted vanity labels that it had pressed and distributed for various regional acts, primarily from western Michigan in the 1960s, and is available on identical LP and CD formats.* The set focuses on basic upbeat and rocking material, but includes a couple of odd and more eclectic expetions. Fenton's founder was musician and entrepreneur Dave Kalmbach, who intended the label to be a place where un-established groups could have a place to record on either the Fenton label itself or on their own vanity labels, which were usually given special custom names chosen by the bands and their management, often under the arrangement that the bands would pay themselves for most of the recording and pressing costs, but receive a certain share in royalties. Commenting on how these recordings more-or-less function as aural snapshots taken from the bygone scrapbook of a more innocent time, Stephen Thomas Earlewine commented:
