Culture of Volume is the second album by the British electronic musician East India Youth, released 6 April 2015 on XL Recordings. [4]

Production

Culture of Volume is the first East India Youth album released by the Richard Russell-owned label XL Recordings. [5] Most of the production and the recording was completed in William Doyle's home in London. [6] According to Doyle, the album's name comes from a fragment of a verse in Rick Holland's poem 'Monument'. [7] Culture of Volume was mixed by Doyle and Graham Sutton, and the album artwork was made by Dan Tombs.

Release

XL Recordings announced in late January that Culture of Volume was scheduled to be released on 6 April in Europe, and 7 April in the US. Besides digital download, the album is pressed in limited 100 signed vinyl and 50 signed CDs. [7] On 3 February, Doyle shared the song "Carousel" with his fans on Twitter, [8] describing it as a very important song to him personally. [9]

It was released on 14 August 2009 by Young Turks, then an imprint label of XL Recordings, and recorded from December 2008 to February 2009 at the label's in-house studio in London. Producing the album, Jamie Smith of the xx created electronic beats for the songs on his laptop and mixed them in a detailed process with the audio engineer Rodaidh McDonald, who attempted to reproduce the intimate, unembellished quality of the band's original demos.

Modern Vampires of the City is the third studio album by American indie rock band Vampire Weekend. It was released on May 14, 2013, by XL Recordings. The group began to write songs for the album during soundchecks on the supporting concert tour for their 2010 album Contra. After a period in which each member explored individual musical projects, they regrouped and continued working on Modern Vampires of the City in 2011. With no deadline in mind, the band brought in an outside record producer for the first time, Ariel Rechtshaid, to record the album.

"Bubblegum Bitch" is a song by Welsh singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis, professionally known as Marina and formerly as Marina and the Diamonds. An opening track on her second studio album, Electra Heart (2012), it was released on 27 April 2012 along with the record. While the production was handled by Rick Nowels and Dean Reird, the song was written by Diamandis and Nowels. Despite not having been released as a single, the song entered international charts after experiencing a resurgence on social media platform TikTok in early 2021, thanks to which it subsequently was certified gold in the United States in March and silver in the United Kingdom in September the same year.

"Don't Stop..." is a song by the English rock band Oasis. Released as a single on 30 April 2020, it was the first track to be released from the band in over 11 years since their 2009 single "Falling Down". Written and sung by Noel Gallagher, the song is a lo-fi acoustic demo of an unreleased song believed to have been originally recorded in the mid-2000s. The song is undated, but the music journalist Alexis Petridis speculates it was intended for release on either the Don't Believe the Truth or Dig Out Your Soul albums, recorded with Oasis. Gallagher has done a studio version of the song for the deluxe version of the fourth Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds album, Council Skies.
