It provides education for learners from 3 months to Grade 12. The company's headquarters are in Durbanville in the Western Cape province of South Africa. [1] [2]
The former CEO of Curro, Dr Chris van der Merwe started Curro as a school of 28 learners in the hall of the NG Kerk Bergsis in the town of Durbanville, about 28 kilometres north-west of Cape Town. The experiment was nearly not sustainable because he failed to meet his targets for growing learner numbers and he was paying educator out of his bond. However, despite setbacks, van der Merwe later managed build the first Curro campus, Curro Durbanville, himself with 10 bricklayers and 30 labourers, which opened its doors in 1998. Hereafter, Curro has expanded its network of private schools beyond Durbanville to other provinces within South Africa. [3] [4]
Curro consists of three units: a pre-primary (3 months to Grade R), primary school (from Grade 1 to 7) and high school (from Grade 8 to Grade 12).

South Africa switched to a closed numbering system effective 16 January 2007. At that time, it became mandatory to dial the full 10-digit telephone number, including the zero in the three-digit area code, for local calls. Area codes within the system are generally organized geographically. All telephone numbers are 9 digits long, except for certain Telkom special services. When dialed from another country, the "0" is omitted and replaced with the appropriate international access code and the country code +27.

A referendum on ending apartheid was held in South Africa on 17 March 1992. The referendum was limited to white South African voters, who were asked whether or not they supported the negotiated reforms begun by State President F. W. de Klerk two years earlier, in which he proposed to end the apartheid system that had been implemented since 1948. The result of the election was a large victory for the "yes" side, which ultimately resulted in apartheid being lifted. Universal suffrage was introduced two years later.
