The Men's road time trial at the 2014 Commonwealth Games , as part of the cycling programme, was held on 31 July 2014. [1]
The 40 km (25 mi) [2] event started at Glasgow Green at 12:30pm, [3] with each of the riders beginning by heading east to Dennistoun and Haghill. The route continued north-east through Riddrie to the main circuit. The riders turned west and then north towards Barmulloch and Robroyston, before heading east through Auchinloch and on to Chryston and Moodiesburn. The route then headed south to the outskirt of Glenboig and then began to return west, passing through Muirhead, Stepps and Millerston, back towards the finish at Glasgow Green. [4]

Neil Michael Fachie is a Scottish cyclist and former track athlete, competing in events for people with a visual impairment. Fachie has competed in two Paralympics, as a sprinter in the 2008 Games in Beijing and as a tandem cyclist in London 2012. In London he won the gold medal in the Men's individual 1 km time trial and silver in the individual sprint, both with Barney Storey as his sighted pilot. Outside of the Paralympic Games, Fachie is a nineteen-time world champion and 5 times Commonwealth Games champion, creating tandem partnerships with Barney Storey, Pete Mitchell, and Olympians Craig MacLean and Matt Rotherham.
Gracie Elvin is an Australian former racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2012 and 2020, for the Faren–Honda Team and Mitchelton–Scott. Elvin is a two-time winner of the Australian National Road Race Championships, with victories in 2013 and 2014, and the first Australian rider to record a podium finish at the Tour of Flanders for Women, with second in 2017.
