Cymbomorphini is a tribe of treehoppers discovered by Hermann Haupt in 1929. [1] It is commonly found in South and Central America. [2] [1] It has four genera. [3]
These are the genera of the tribe Cymbomorphini: [3]
Cercopidae are the largest family of Cercopoidea, a xylem-feeding insect group, commonly called froghoppers or spittlebugs. They belong to the hemipteran suborder Auchenorrhyncha. A 2023 phylogenetic study of the family suggested the elevation of subfamily Ischnorhininae to full family status as Ischnorhinidae, leaving a monophyletic Cercopinae.
Smiliinae is a subfamily of treehoppers in the family Membracidae. These are bugs and include about 100 genera in 10 tribes.
Membracinae is a subfamily of treehoppers in the family Membracidae. There are more than 40 genera in Membracinae.
Bocydium is a genus of insects in the treehopper family, Membracidae. A 1999 classification identified 14 species in the genus, distributed around the Neotropics.
Antonae is a genus of treehoppers in the family Membracidae.
Trachytalis isabellina is a species of treehopper in the family Membracidae.
Trachytalis distinguenda is a species of treehopper in the family Membracidae.
Cladonota is a genus of neotropical treehoppers widespread from Mexico to South America. They are known for their elaborate pronotum shapes, hypothesized to play a role in camouflage or mate recognition, although their function is not yet known with certainty. Previously described as a subgenus of Sphongophorus, it was recognized as a genus of its own right in 1997 after the latter was synonymized with Hypsauchenia.
Amastris is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the family Membracidae. It has 71 described species.
Darninae is a subfamily of treehoppers belonging to the family Membracidae. It includes 5 tribes and about 30 genera.
Heteronotinae is a subfamily of treehoppers belonging to the family Membracidae. All genera are placed in the single tribe, Heteronotini.
Nicomiinae is a subfamily of treehoppers belonging to the family Membracidae. It contains 6 genera in a single tribe, Nicomiini.
Tragopa is a genus of treehoppers. It belongs to the tribe Tragopini in the subfamily Smiliinae. It contains 41 species. It was described by Pierre André Latreille in 1829.
Oeda is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Stegaspidinae in the family Membracidae. It contains 5 species in two subgenera, Oeda (Oeda) and Oeda (Oedacanthus).
Lycoderes is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Stegaspidinae. It was first described by the German entomologist Ernst Friedrich Germar in 1835, and contains 18 species.
Thrasymedes is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Smiliinae. It was described by George Willis Kirkaldy in 1904.
Gargarini is a tribe of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Centrotinae. It was first described by William Lucas Distant in 1908, and contains 28 genera.
Heteronotus is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Heteronotinae, of which it is the type genus. It was first described by François Laporte in 1832.
Cyphonia is a genus of treehopper belonging to the subfamily Smiliinae. It contains 33 species.
