The IIHF Inline Hockey World Championships were an annual international men's inline hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The first World Championship was held in 1996 in which eleven nations participated. In 2003, sixteen nations took part and were split into two divisions. The top eight teams played for the World Championship and the other eight played for the Division I title. The last format in use featured the World Championship, Division I and three regional qualification tournaments. The World Championship and Division I tournament were played on odd years and the qualification tournaments were played on even years. The United States was the tournament's most dominant team, winning the World Championship seven times. After 20 editions, the IIHF cancelled the tournament in June 2019.

The tournament was won by Sweden, earning their second straight World Championship title and fourth overall. Slovakia finished in second place and Germany in third after defeating the United States in the bronze medal match. Austria, after losing the 7th place game against Slovenia was relegated to Division I for 2009. The event chairman was Hans Dobida.

The tournament was won by Sweden, earning their third straight World Championship title and fifth overall. The United States finished in second place and Germany in third after defeating Finland in the bronze medal match. Slovakia, after losing the 7th/8th game against Canada was relegated to Division I for 2010.
The Canadian men's national inline hockey team is the national team for Canada, based in Lethbridge, Alberta and Richmond Hill, Ontario. The team is controlled by Roller Hockey Canada for IIHF events and Inline Canada for FIRS events.
The National Team Development Program (NTDP) was started in 1996 by USA Hockey as a way to identify elite ice hockey players under the age of 18, and centralize their training. There are two teams in the program: under-17 and under-18. Both teams are based in Plymouth, Michigan. The stated goal of the NTDP is "to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on the U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice". While enrolled in the NTDP, players stay with billet families.

The tournament was won by Canada, earning their second World Championship title. Germany finished in second place and Finland third after defeating Slovenia in the bronze medal match. Great Britain were relegated to Division I for 2013 after losing the relegation game against Sweden.

Canada women's national inline hockey team is the national team for Canada, which participates at the FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships, an event by the Comité International de Roller In-Line Hockey (CIRILH), an organization and discipline of the Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS). The national team has captured five world championships. Canada has enjoyed 14 podium finishes in the FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships from 2002 to 2017. The first tournament without a podium finish took place in 2007.

While Brazil and Japan were relegated after finishing last and second last respectively.

Great Britain, after losing the relegation game against Slovakia was relegated to Division I for 2015.
The Second Roller In-line Hockey World Championship was the second such event organized by the Fédération Internationale de Roller Skating. It was hosted by Italy in Roccaraso. Ten national teams competed in one venue, the Roccaraso Palaghiaccio. The competition also served as qualifications for the third competition.

The tournament was won by the United States, earning their seventh World Championship title. Finland finished in second place and the Czech Republic in third after defeating Sweden in the bronze medal match.
