Dasharatha B. Chavan was an Indian long-distance runner. [1] He competed in the men's 10,000 metres at the 1928 Summer Olympics. [2]

He finished first in the five mile race at the All India Olympics in Calcutta in 1928. He was listed as being from Bombay. Shaikh Dawood of Madras finished second and Gurbacha of Punjab third. The winning time was recorded as 27 minutes and 49 seconds. He also won the one mile race at Bombay Olympics with a time of 5 minutes and 10 seconds and the 10 mile modified marathon in 60 minites and 5 seconds. He was awarded the Dhunjibhoy Bomanji Challenge Cup (Dhunjibhoy Bomanji) at the event. He received the Rosenthal Cup for winning the 1 mile event. [3]

He is in a photograph with other members of India's 1928 Olympic team that they also signed. [4] He did not finish the 10,000 meter Opympic race. [5]
