D. W. Jesudoss (13th Oct. 1939 - 10th Apr. 2024) was the Principal from 1992 through 2001 at the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai, affiliated to the nation's first [4] University, the Senate of Serampore College (University).

Graduate

Jesudoss graduated from the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Madras in 1965 [5] earning a Bachelor of Divinity degree conferred by the Senate of Serampore College (University).

Postgraduate

Jesudoss enrolled for a postgraduate degree at the United Theological College, Bangalore from 1970-1971, [2] affiliated to the nation's first [4] University, the Senate of Serampore College (University), under the Principalship of Joshua Russell Chandran, studying together [2] with R. Yesurathnam, where he obtained a Master of Theology and working out a dissertation entitled A study of Luther's concept of the bondage of the will and its relevance for the interpretation of man in India today [6] and later awarded a degree by the University under the Registrarship of Chetti Devasahayam.

Doctoral

For further research studies, Jesudoss went to the University of Erlangen where he submitted a dissertation in 1986 entitled What is man?: theological attempts and directions towards the formation of an Indian Christian anthropology for today [7]

Honours

In 1999, Samuel W. Meshack, then a member of faculty at the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai edited a festschrift in honour of Jesudoss marking the completion of his sixtieth year. The festschrift was entitled Building God's Kingdom on Earth, Writings in Honour of D.W. Jesudoss on His Shastiapthapoorthi. [19]

Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church (AELC) was constituted in the year 1927 in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the Indian successor to the United Lutheran Church in America which was started as a self-supporting, self-governing, and self-propagating church among Telugu Christians.

Joshua Russell Chandran (1918–2000) was an Indian Christian theologian, who served as President of Senate of Serampore College, Bengal (1970–1), and as President of the United Theological College, Bangalore (1954–83), and was for some years a vice-chairman of the World Council of Churches (1966–68).

M. Victor Paul was a biblical scholar who served as President of the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church from 1993 to 1997.

Arvind P. Nirmal, (1936–1995) was a Dalit Christian theologian and a minister of the Church of North India. He questioned the Christian conversion of the upper castes, especially the Brahmin. A major proponent of Dalit theology, Nirmal argued that Jesus himself was a Dalit and that Christian theology should therefore reflect Dalit concerns.

B. Suneel Bhanu is President Emeritus of the Protestant Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church Society who served a term from 2009 through 2013. At present, Suneel Bhanu teaches at the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai.

Ch. Victor Moses is President Emeritus of the Protestant Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church Society headquartered in Guntur. Victor Moses is an Old Testament Scholar and a member of the Society for Biblical Studies, India, an august body of learning having members well versed in Hebrew and Greek languages hailing from the Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox and Pentecostal traditions.

William Powlas Peery was a Pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America/Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church who taught theology at ecumenical institutions, the Andhra Christian Theological College at its erstwhile location in Rajahmundry and also at the United Theological College, Bangalore both of which are affiliated to the nation's first University, the Senate of Serampore College (University), Serampore.

Modayil Mani Chacko is an Old Testament Scholar and a Management Consultant. In a career spanning over four decades from the Eighties, his roles included ministering, teaching, directing and managing largescale human resources in educational, goodwill-promoting and literary organisations with a pan-Indian presence.

Rayi Ratna Sundara Rao was a prolific writer, theologian and comparative religion scholar who once was the principal of the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai, affiliated to India's first university, the Senate of Serampore College (University).

Daniel Divaker Chetti is Professor at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary. Daniel Chetti was known for his contribution as Director of Programmes and Church Relations at the Board of Theological Education of the Senate of Serampore College in Bangalore as well as at the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai. He was educated at La Martiniere, Calcutta, where he was a House Captain.

The Kretzmann Commission was constituted in 1969 by the Board of Governors of the Andhra Christian Theological College, Hyderabad to:

J. William Paul Rajashekar is a Systematic Theologian who is the Luther D. Reed Emeritus Professor of Systematic Theology at United Lutheran Seminary, Pennsylvania Rajashekar is best known for his writings on Martin Luther's theology, ecumenism and inter-faith dialogue. He grew up in a setting of religions in India and has oft-spoken at numerous platforms and quotes Max Mueller, (adapted)...one who knows one (religion), knows none.

M. S. G. Lalitha Kumari a.k.a. Lalitha Krupa Rao was the eighth Principal of Eva Rose York Bible Training and Technical School for Women, Tuni. She held the term from 1993 through 2011. Lalitha was a theologically trained woman who also used to pastor a Church. With her ordination in 1992, she became the first Woman priest in the Protestant Convention of Baptist Churches of Northern Circars.

Graham Basanti a.k.a. M. G. Basanti is a silver jubilee woman priest and the first ordinand from the Protestant Jeypore Evangelical Lutheran Church Society (JELC), headquartered in Jeypore, Odisha, India. She was in the forefront of JELC leadership, representing it at United Evangelical Lutheran Churches in India in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Basanti has been a founding member of the Association of Theologically Trained Women of India (ATTWI), and was also elected to its executive committee for the bienniums 1979–1981 and 2002–2006. Basanti has also been associated with the National Council of Churches in India.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">G. D. Melanchthon</span> Indian theologian

G. D. Melanchthon (1934–1994) was a Silver Jubilee Priest hailing from Protestant Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church Society who taught Religions, at United Theological College, Bangalore from 1968 till the latter half of eighties until his career was brought to an abrupt end in 1988 on being stricken with paralysis. Melanchthon used to be quite active among the academic community along with Chrysostom Arangaden, Arvind P. Nirmal and others in not only delivering scholarly talks, but also in contributing research articles and reviewing new titles.
