Kurtis Campbell, better known as DJ Kambel, [1] is a British electronic music DJ. [2] While DJing in the UK happy hardcore scene, he composed many works for the mega-hit compilation Dancemania 's Speed series, which made him one of the most frequently appearing artists on the series along with the likes of CJ Crew, Captain Jack, Bus Stop, E-Rotic and Smile.dk.

Career

Born and raised in Nottingham, England, [3] he got involved with DJing and creating music at the age of 11. [4] His musical career officially began in the early 2000s when he signed with major record label Toshiba EMI and began appearing on the label's Dancemania compilation series. [5] His first appearance on the series was on the 2000 album Speed 5. He appeared on the album with his two remixes, one being "Classic Cutz", and the other being "Chariots of Hardcore", along with crews including CJ Crew, Jenny Rom, E-Rotic, Natalie Browne, 2 Unlimited and Smile.dk. [6]

He made a number of appearances on the Speed series in the early 2000s, with his remixes including "Classic Cutz", "Chariots of Hardcore", "Dream State (Spaceman)", "Last Nite Kambel Saved My Life" and "Where's The Noize". Many of his tracks on the series were co-recorded with fellow British experienced MC Magika. [3]

He also made his Bonkers debut in 2003 on Bonkers XI: Forevolution with his track "No More Jokin'". [7] He also made his non-SpeedDancemania debut with his remix of "Right Here Waiting For You" on the 2005 compilation Covers 01 , where the crews included Atomic Kitten, Creamy, DJ Miko and CJ Crew. Bang! are a British happy hardcore group from the late 1990s originally consisting of producer Nick Arnold, Tom Orton and female vocalist Donna Grassie. Nick Arnold and Tom Orton had previously been a members of the band Smart E's, who reached 2 in the UK in 1992 with their cover of the theme tune to Sesame Street entitled Sesame's Treat. After the release of "Cloudy Daze" which featured Donna, Tom Orton brought Jo James to the attention of Nick after a contact of Tom's, Jo's husband, presented to him a demo of his wife singing.

Tom Wright, also known as Cube::Hard, Stargazer and Stereo Wildlife, among other aliases, is an English music engineer and record producer. Originally from Kent, England, he is currently taking a break from making music. He worked for RFUGrey as a producer in the late 2000s.

<i>Dancemania Speed</i>

Dancemania Speed is a sub-series of Toshiba EMI's Dancemania compilation series. This series features faster, further remixed versions of recordings from previously released Dancemania albums or faster remixed covers of various famous songs. Unlike the main series mostly consisting of Eurodance, this series largely consists of hardcore techno crews from the UK, the home of happy hardcore, and some Eurobeat Italians who are very much experienced in high BPM dance music.

CJ Crew are a dance music DJ duo, consisting of Chris Bucknall and John Briley.
