DNA is the seventh studio album by Brazilian recording artist Wanessa, released on July 28, 2011 by Sony Music Entertainment. [1]
Musically, the album was influenced by electronic dance music, and other genres, with elements like funk carioca and dubstep. DNA was produced by Mr. Jam and Dennonyx. The first information about DNA appeared in 2010 in an interview with radio Transamerica, revealing that the album would be entirely in English. [2] The recording sessions started in São Paulo, Brazil and it was finished and mastered in New York, in the Sterling Sound Studios. [3]
On November 13, 2010 Wanessa revealed in an interview for the radio Transamerica her new album was recorded in early 2011, with an electropop dance sound, and would include the four songs from her EP "Party Line", "Stuck on Repeat", "Falling For U" and "Worth It". [2] On January 8, 2011, against the comments that it would launch an international album, Wanessa, in an interview for Rolling Stone Brazil said that, her plans were to set herself in Brazil. [4] In the same interview, the singer said she would be entering the studio to release her album at the end of March, which would be entirely in English and focusing on pop and a remix of the single "Stuck On Repeat", produced by American DJ Dave Aude, known by his work with Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff and Lady Gaga.
On March 14, the singer participated in the program Combo - Fala + Joga, and revealed that the album would be postponed to June 2011 and that it would not only include electropop songs, but also include two calm and romantic songs, [5] devoted to gender in her most successful single, "Não Resisto a Nós Dois". In another interview, Wanessa said that her new album was produced by Mr. Jam, known for working with the singer in the tracks "Falling For U" and "Stuck On Repeat". [6] DNA would be composed of 16 tracks. [7]
On July 17, it was confirmed by the singer's Twitter that the album would be released on July 28, 2011, eight days behind the previously announced release. [8] On July 18, the cover and back cover and the official track list of the album were released, bringing 14 songs, two less than expected, and excluding "Party Line", the only track in the 2010 track list that had been composed by Wanessa (however, two other compositions by Wanessa entered the track list, "It's Over" and "Blind Faith"). [9] Five days before its scheduled release, DNA leaked in full.
The tour of this work was in fact a mutation that came from the need to adapt the great show of the Tour Meu Momento to night clubs, then appeared the Ballad Tour that with the launch of the new songs originated the DNA Tour. Wanessa, six months pregnant, closed the first part of the " DNA Tour " with show at LGBT The Week nightclub in São Paulo on October 29, 2011 . The forecast return of the tour, with the 2nd part, in March 2012. All the concerts of this tour were made in nightclubs until the recording of the DVD that occurred only with the singer's return after pregnancy and had a great structure, until then unpublished, since the focus for the work were only the nightclubs with structure reduced.

The album received very positive professional reviews. Mauro Ferreira in the newspaper O Dia , stated that Wanessa was finding her identity and that the album was "A dance sound blatantly pop, even more pop than the standard dictated by Frenchman David Guetta, world magician of the genre." The critic highlighted the songs "Get Loud!", "Murder", "Blow Me Away" as the album's best track title track "DNA" ranked as the most seductive. [14] [10] Already the website Território da Música (formerly Pop Channel) has made positive criticisms saying that "Technically, the work is exquisite, with great musical production, good repertoire, cohesive arrangements, impeccable recording and mixing, and a musician's trump card", conceptualizing the album as "an important moment in Wanessa's career" and highlighting the tracks "DNA", "Stuck On Repeat" and "Blind Faith". [12] The magazine Rolling Stone Brasil stated that the album is "extremely professional", highlighting the songs "Sticky Dough", "Falling for U", "Worth It", "Murder" and the romantic "It's Over". The critics still say: "She continues in her persona of dancing diva entering head on the electronic pop bag, with lyrics in English and production (in charge of the Brazilian Mister Jam) that nothing is owed to international singers like Britney Spears and Ke$ha". concluding that Wanessa "has the merit of having reinvented herself," completing calling the singer extremely professional. Wanessa Godói Camargo Buaiz, known professionally as Wanessa, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter.
Cláudia Cristina Leite Inácio is a Brazilian singer and television personality. She rose to fame in late 2002 as the lead vocalist of the Axé music group Babado Novo. The group achieved a string of consecutive diamond-certified hit singles in Brazil and five golden and platinum albums from 2003 to 2007, as granted by the Brazilian Association of Record Producers (ABPD).
Meu Momento is Wanessa's sixth studio album released on June 1, 2009. The music was a hit on the radio. The second track was "Não Me Leve A Mal ", a song that mixes English and Portuguese, and also enjoyed success on Brazilian radio. Produced by the renowned DJ Deeplick, the repertoire left aside the romantic focus of the previous work of the singer, being more directed to the musical trends worldwide, such as electro-pop and rhythm and blues, inspired by Felipe Harmata's folk songs.
Sandy Leah Lima, known mononymously as Sandy, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and actress. Born and raised in Campinas, Sandy began her career in 1989, when she formed with her brother, musician Junior Lima, the vocal duo Sandy & Junior. They rose to fame in the early 1990s as child stars and reached the height of their success during teenage, as albums Era Uma Vez... Ao Vivo (1998), As Quatro Estações (1999), Quatro Estações: O Show (2000) and Sandy & Junior (2001) sold more than a million units, with the second and third being among the best-selling albums of all time in Brazil. The duo were credited with leading a wave of teen pop artists during the late 1990s and early 2000s, with the press labelling Sandy the Brazilian "Princess of Pop". The duo disbanded in 2007 and released their Acústico MTV in September that year. In addition to their success in the music industry, the sibling's name became a strong brand, with more than 300 licensed products which made R$300 million a year.
Lia Clark, the stage name of Rhael Lima de Oliveira, is a Brazilian singer and drag queen. Born in Santos, São Paulo, Rhael grew up listening to Brazilian funk. Inspired by Valesca Popozuda and Tati Quebra-Barraco, in 2014, Rhael became the drag queen "Lia Clark", working as DJ known to play funk. Two years later, the artist came to prominence as a singer after the release of "Trava Trava". A hit on Spotify and YouTube, it led to a national tour and to the release of the extended play (EP) Clark Boom in 2016. In the following year, the EP spawned hits like "Chifrudo", "TOME CUrtindo" and "Boquetáxi". Nheengatu is the fourteenth studio album by Brazilian rock band Titãs, released on May 12, 2014. It is their first studio album with session drummer Mario Fabre, who replaced Charles Gavin, their last with vocalist and guitarist Paulo Miklos, who left the then quartet in 2016, and also their first release through Som Livre and producer Rafael Ramos. The album was dedicated to Rachel Salém, Miklos' wife who died on July 23, 2013 of lung cancer.

W is the fourth studio album by Brazilian recording artist Wanessa, released on August 1, 2005. It was released on August 8, 2005, through Sony BMG, followed by a release in other countries three years later on RCA Records. After fulfilling several appointments on her schedule, such as the release of her first live album Transparente and appearances on television, the singer had more time to record her fourth album. In the meantime, its producer César Lemos. Camargo composed eleven of the fifteen tracks of the album, distancing himself more from romantic music to try new styles.

The EP, which contains four new songs, was released during the singer's show at Citibank Hall in Sao Paulo on September 11, 2010.
