DR P3 (referred to in Denmark simply as P3) is a Danish current-based hit music radio station operated by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. It is broadcast on FM radio, DAB, and Internet radio.
It commenced broadcasting on 1 January 1963 as Musikradio [1] in response to the popularity of the offshore pirate radio station Radio Mercur, which had been outlawed by the Danish parliament in June 1962. [2] In April 1966 the station became Danmarks Radio Program 3 and to Danmarks Radio P3 in 1971. [3] P3 started stereo broadcasts in 1972.
On 1 October 2017 P3 became available on DAB+ radio when a nationwide switch-over took place. [4]
On 5 April 2022, DR P3 merged with its sister online streaming service and former TV channel DR3.
The station's music features a mix of both established and emerging artists. The annual "KarriereKanonen" allows unknown musicians to breakthrough and have their songs played on P3.
Once a week, a song is selected to be P3s Uundgåelige (previously known as Ugens Uundgåelige and Powerplay) from the playlist, which means that the song is going to be rotated more frequently than any other songs on P3 this week. [5] Some of these songs that have been sung by Danish musicians have been released on CDs in 2004 and 2005.

The national selection consisted of two televised semi-finals, a radio wildcard selection and a televised final. In the final, the winner was selected by regional televoting. "Drama Queen" performed by DQ was the winner after gaining the most votes.
Denmark was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "This Time I Mean It", written by Ebbe Ravn, and performed by Trine Jepsen and Michael Teschl. The Danish participating broadcaster, Danmarks Radio (DR), organised the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 1999 in order to select its entry for the contest. The broadcaster returned to the contest after a one-year absence following their relegation from 1998 as one of the six entrants with the least total average points over the preceding five contests.

Ten songs competed in a televised show where "Sig det' løgn" performed by Tomas Thordarson was the winner as decided upon through two rounds of public voting. The song was later translated from Danish to English for Eurovision and was titled "Shame on You".

DR Radio was a division of Danish Broadcasting Corporation - DR - concerned with radio programming. The radio stations are now part of several divisions: DR Medier (P1), DR Ung (P3), DR Musik, DR Danmark.
DR P4 is the regional radio channel of Denmark's national public broadcasting corporation, DR. The 10 regional stations which make up P4 originate their own local programming and also carry jointly produced nationwide content. P4's programming is a mixture of popular music, traffic announcements, national and regional news.
