Damboya is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Kembata Tembaro Zone, Damboya is bordered on the south by Kedida Gamela, on the west by Angacha, on the north by the Hadiya Zone, and on the east by the Bilate River which separates it from Alaba. Towns in Damboya include Damboya. The town of Durame is surrounded by Damboya woreda. Damboya was separated from Kedida Gamela woreda.
Based on the 2007 Census conducted by the CSA, this woreda has a total population of 82,622, of whom 41,543 are men and 41,079 women; 8,122 or 9.83% of its population are urban dwellers. The majority of the inhabitants were Protestants, with 82.07% of the population reporting that belief, 10.35% were Muslim, 5.17% practiced Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, and 2.23% were Catholic. Kembata is a zone in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. It was formerly known as Kembata, Alaba and Tembaro, until Alaba and Tembaro became a special woreda in 2002 and 2023 respectively. This zone is named after the Kambaata people which gained zonal posture following the establishment of Central Ethiopian region in 2023.
Soro is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Hadiya Zone, Soro consists large population of Hadiya and Danta dubamo people, bordered on the south by the Kembata Tembaro Zone, on the southwest by the Dawro Zone, on the west by the Omo River which separates it from the Oromia Region, on the north by Gomibora, on the northeast by Limo, and on the southeast by Duna. The administrative center of this woreda is Gimbichu; other towns in Soro include Jajura. Parts of Soro were separated to create Duna and Gomibora woredas.
Angacha is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Kembata Tembaro Zone, Angacha is bordered on the south by Kacha Bira, on the west by Doyogena, on the north by the Hadiya Zone, on the east by Damboya, and on the southeast by Kedida Gamela. Towns in Angacha include Angacha, the administration center and Funemura, a fast growing town in the northern part of Angacha woreda. Western part of Angacha woreda was separated to create Doyogena woreda including Amecho Wato town.
Kedida Gamela is a woreda in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. Part of the Kembata Zone. Kedida Gamela is bordered on the east and south by an Misraq Badawacho woreda of the Hadiya Zone, on the west by Kacha Bira, on the northwest by Angacha, on the north by Damboya, and on the northeast by the Bilate River which separates it from Halaba Zone. The northern part of Kedida Gamela was separated to create Damboya woreda. The administrative center of the district is Durame.
Kacha Bira is a woreda in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Kembata Tembaro Zone, Kacha Bira is bordered on the south by an exclave of the Hadiya Zone, on the southwest by the Wolayita Zone, on the west by Hadero Tunto, on the northwest by the Hadiya Zone, on the north by Doyogena and Angacha, and on the east by Kedida Gamela. Towns in Kacha Bira include Shinshicho and Hadero.
Wenago is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gedeo Zone, Wenago is bordered on the southwest by Yirgachefe, on the northwest by the Oromia Region, on the northeast by Dila Zuria, and on the southeast by Bule. Towns in Wenago include Wenago. Dila Zuria woreda and Dila town were separated from Wenago.
Kochere is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gedeo Zone, Kochere is bordered on the east by Gedeb, on the southwest by the Oromia Region, and on the north by Yirgachefe. Towns in Kochere include Fisehagenet and Chelelektu. Gedeb woreda was separated from Kochere.
Bonke is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gamo Gofa Zone, Bonke is bordered on the south by the Dirashe special woreda, on the west by the Weito River which separates it from Kemba, on the northwest by Deramalo, on the north by Dita, and on the east by Arba Minch Zuria. The major town in Bonke is Gerese.
Bako Gazer is one of the woredas in the South Ethiopia Regional State. It is also called Southern Aari as it is part of the homeland of Aari people. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Bako Gazer is bordered on the south by Bena Tsemay, on the west by the Mago River which separates it from Selamago, on the north by the Basketo special woreda and Gelila, on the northeast by the Gamo Gofa Zone, and on the east by Male. The administrative center of this woreda is Jinka; other towns in Bako Gazer include Tolta and Wub Hamer. Gelila and Male woredas were separated from Bako Gazer.
Maji is a woreda in South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region, Ethiopia. Part of the West Omo zone, Maji is bordered on the south by the Kibish River which separates it from South Sudan, on the west by Surma, on the northwest by Bero, on the north by Meinit Shasha, and on the east by the Omo River which separates it from the Debub Omo Zone. Towns in Maji include Tum and Maji. The western part of Maji was separated to create Bero woreda and some southern kebeles were added to Nyangatom woreda.
Melokoza is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gamo Gofa Zone, Melokoza is bordered on the south by Basketo special woreda, on the southwest by the Debub (South) Omo Zone, on the northwest by the Konta special woreda, on the north by the Dawro Zone, and on the east by Demba Gofa and Geze Gofa; the Omo River defines its northwestern boundary separating the woreda from Konta and the Dawro Zone. The major town in Melokoza is Leha.
Durame is a town in southeastern Ethiopia. The administrative center of the Kembata Tembaro Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region (SNNPR), this town has a latitude and longitude of 7°14′N37°53′E with an elevation of 2101 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by Damboya woreda. Materials on the Nordic Africa Institute website, describe Durame as the main town for the Kambaata-speaking people.
Geta is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Geta is one of the sub-groups of the Sebat Bet Gurage. Part of the Gurage Zone, the Geta woreda is bordered on the south by the Silt'e Zone, on the southwest by Endegagn, on the west by Enemorina Eaner, on the north by Cheha, and on the northeast by Gumer. Geta was separated from the Gumer woreda.
Misha is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Hadiya Zone, Misha is bordered on the south by Gomibora, on the southwest by Gibe, on the west by the Yem Special Woreda, on the north by the Gurage Zone, on the east by the Silt'e Zone, and on the southeast by Limo. Towns in Misha include Geja and Morsito. It was part of former Konteb woreda.
Misraq Badawacho is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is part of a triangle-shaped exclave of the Hadiya Zone. Misraq Badawacho is bordered on the south by the Wolayita Zone, on the west by Mirab Badawacho, on the north by the Kembata Tembaro Zone, on the northeast by the Halaba Zone, and on the east by the Bilate River which separates it from the Oromia Region. The major town in Misraq Badawacho is Shone. Misraq Badawacho was part of former Badawacho woreda.
Tembaro Special Woreda is one of the woredas in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. Tembaro is bordered on the south by the Dawro Zone, on the north by the Hadiya Zone, on the west Hadiya and Dawro on the east by Hadero Tunto, and on the southeast by the Wolayita Zone. Towns in Tembaro include Mudula, Keleta, Ambukuna and Hodo. Tembaro Special Woreda was also formerly called Omo Sheleko woreda. Tembaro Special Woreda become special woreda during the reformation of the former Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region into the new Central Ethiopia Regional State in 19 August 2023. This day is the historical day for Tembaro People.
Hadero Tunto is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Kembata Tembaro Zone, Hadero Tunto is bordered on the south by the Wolayita Zone, on the west by Tembaro, on the north by the Hadiya Zone, and on the east by Kacha Bira. Towns in Hadero Tunto include Hadero and Tunto. Hadero Tunto was part of former Omo Sheleko and Kacha Bira woreda. The majority of the population in the woreda is Hadiya nation which accommodates 75 percent of the total population based on 2007 census.
Doyogena is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Kembata Tembaro Zone, Doyogena is bordered on the south by Kacha Bira, on the west and north by the Hadiya Zone, and on the east by Angacha. Towns in Doyogena include Doyogena. Doyogena was separated from Angacha woreda.
Diguna Fango is one of the woredas in the South Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. It is a Part of the Wolayita Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Diguna Fango is bordered on the southwest by Damot Weyde, on the west by Damot Gale, on the north by the Hadiya Zone, on the northeast by the Oromia Region, and on the east by Bilate river, which separates it from Sidama Region. The administrative center of the woreda is Bitena Town; the other major towns in the woreda include Dimtu, Kercheche, and Edo. Diguna Fango was separated from Damot Weyde woreda in 1998 E. C.
Mirab Abaya is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gamo Gofa Zone, Mirab Abaya is bordered on the east and south by Lake Abaya which separates it from the Oromia Region on the east and Arba Minch Zuria on the south, on the west by Chencha, on the northwest by Borena, and on the north by the Wolayita Zone. Towns in Mirab Abaya include Birbir. Mirab Abaya was part of former Boreda Abaya woreda.
