Dampier is a major industrial port in the Pilbara region in the northwest of Western Australia. It is located near the city of Karratha and Port Walcott.

Lake Macleod is a marine salt lake in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, north of the small coastal town of Carnarvon.

It has two integrated steel plants, located at Dolvi and Kalmeshwar in the state of Maharashtra. The 1,200 acres (4.9 km2) Dolvi complex houses the 30 lakh tonne per annum hot rolled coils plant, which combines the latest technologies – the Conarc process for steel making and the compact strip process (CSP) – introduced in Asia. The company is listed on Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange of India. It is headquartered at Mumbai and employs about 3,000 people. Ispat Industries was ranked 5th among major next to Tata steel and JSW steel companies in India for the year 2008 by Business World.
Cape Lambert is a port facility operated by Rio Tinto Iron Ore in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It is located 40 kilometres north of Karratha.
Iron ore mining in Western Australia, in the 2018–19 financial year, accounted for 54 percent of the total value of the state's resource production, with a value of A$78.2 billion. The overall value of the minerals and petroleum industry in Western Australia was A$145 billion in 2018-19, a 26 percent increase on the previous financial year.
The Dampier Saltworks Important Bird Area is a 52 km2 saltern lying close to the town of Dampier, an industrial port in the Pilbara region of north-west Western Australia. The salt processing facility is operated by Dampier Salt Ltd, part of the Rio Tinto Group.

The Bellarine Wetlands Important Bird Area comprises a group of wetland sites, with a collective area of 46 km2, at the western end of the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, south-eastern Australia. The site is important for waterbirds and orange-bellied parrots.
The Roy Hill mine is an iron ore mine in the Chichester Range in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, located 115 kilometres (71 mi) north of Newman and 277 kilometres (172 mi) south of Port Hedland. With indicated and inferred reserves of more than 2.4 billion tonnes, it is expected to become one of the largest mining projects in Australia. Mining operations will produce 55 million tonnes of iron ore per annum with an operating life of more than 20 years.
Port Hedland is one of the largest iron ore loading ports in the world and the largest in Australia. In 2011 it had the largest bulk cargo throughput in Australia. The Mt Webber mine is an iron ore mine operated by Atlas Iron and located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 230 kilometres (140 mi) from Port Hedland, to where the ore is transported. Mt Webber, opened in 2014, is the company's primary operation.
The Miralga Creek mine is an iron ore mine operated by Atlas Iron and located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 100 kilometres (62 mi) south-east from Port Hedland. Ore from the mine is transported overland via road train to the Utah Point Bulk Commodities Berth at Port Hedland.
