The ninth series of Dancing with the Stars premiered on 24 April 2022 on Three.
The series will be hosted by Clint Randell and Sharyn Casey. Camilla Sacre-Dallerup will return to the judging panel as head judge, while James Luck and Lance Savali will join the judging panel for their first series. [1] Sacre-Dallerup contracted Covid-19 and was replaced in the final programme by Karen Hardy. [2]
The full cast was announced on 3 April. It was also announced that Eli Matthewson and Jonny Williams would make history by being the first same-sex partnership of the series.

In December 2019, it was that announced that a ninth series would air on Three in 2020. [3] On 11 February 2020, it was announced that former contestant Laura Daniel would be replacing Rachel White on the judging panel for the ninth series. [4] On 23 February 2020, The New Zealand Herald reported that Destiny Church Pastor and Vision NZ leader Hannah Tamaki was tipped to join the series. [5] After major backlash online, MediaWorks confirmed that Tamaki would no longer be joining the series. In the same statement, they confirmed that the cast announcement for the ninth series was scheduled for the end of March 2020. [6] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand, the series was postponed indefinitely. [7] In March 2022 it was confirmed that the show would return later that year.

Brendan Cole is a New Zealand ballroom dancer, specialising in Latin American dancing. He is most famous for appearing as a professional dancer on the BBC One show, Strictly Come Dancing from 2004 to 2017. From 2005 to 2009, he was a judge on the New Zealand version of the show, Dancing with the Stars.
Ian Waite is a British professional dancer specialising in Latin American dance, a teacher and choreographer.
Dancing with the Stars is an Australian light entertainment reality show which originally aired on the Seven Network from 2004 to 2015 and on Network 10 from 2019 to 2020. When it was on the Seven Network, it was broadcast live from the HSV-7 studios in Melbourne; on Network 10 it aired live from Fox Studios Australia in Sydney and Docklands Studios in Melbourne.

Dancing with the Stars is a New Zealand television dance contest based on the British series Strictly Come Dancing. The show introduces New Zealand celebrities paired with professional ballroom dancers who each week compete against each other in a competition to impress a panel of judges and the viewing public in order to survive potential elimination. Through a telephone poll, viewers vote for those couples who should stay. The public vote and the average score given by the panel of judges equally go towards deciding who should leave. Proceeds from the voting go to the celebrity contestant's charity of choice.

Strictly Come Dancing Live! is a nationwide arena tour in the United Kingdom which was first staged in 2008 and has continued every year since. It is directed and co-choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood.
