Daniela Del Din (born September 29, 1969, in San Marino) is a Sammarinese professional sport shooter. [1] She won the bronze medal at the 2007 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Nicosia, Cyprus, and in 2009, she captured her first gold in trap shooting at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, defeating junior world champion Jessica Rossi of Italy. [2] She also won two medals for the same category at the Mediterranean Games.

Background

Del Din started shooting as her sporting discipline at the age of 16. She first competed for San Marino at the 1989 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Montecatini, Italy, where she placed fourth in trap shooting. Shortly after the championships, Del Din relinquished the sport to focus on her personal life and career as an accountant.

Leaving retirement

In 2005, Del Din finally came out of retirement, when she captured her first medal in trap shooting at the Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain. Two years later, she was ranked number three in the world by ISSF, after winning silver and bronze medals at the ISSF World Shooting Championships in Nicosia, Cyprus, and at the final ISSF World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia, respectively. She also scored 68 points at the fourth meet of the World Cup in Maribor, Slovenia, finishing only in thirteenth place. Her top-level success at the shooting competitions allowed Del Din to qualify for the Olympics. The following year, Del Din added her second silver medal at the World Cup in Suhl, Germany, finishing behind Rossi by just a single point in the final. [3]

At age thirty-seven, Del Din made her official debut for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she became the nation's first female flag bearer in the opening ceremony. [4] Del Din competed for the women's trap shooting, where she placed fifteenth out of the twenty shooters in the qualifying rounds, behind France's Delphine Racinet by three targets in the final attempt, with a total score of 62 points. Successes

In 2009, Del Din had won her first ever gold medal for trap shooting at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy, and anchored her teammate Alessandra Perilli for a two-medal sweep in the podium. Few months, she won her second gold at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, with a remarkable hit of 70 qualifying and 19 final hits, for a total of 89 targets. [2]

The San Marino national shooting team represent the Republic of San Marino in International shooting competitions such as Olympic Games or World shooting Championships. It provided the highest results in Olympic sports for the small country.

Charlotte Hollands is a British sports shooter. She won her first Commonwealth Gold medal at the age of 15 at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. In 2015 World Championship, she was part of the British team that won gold in the team trap event.

Diane Swanton is a South African sport shooter. She won the gold medal for trap shooting at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, with a games record of 72 points. Swanton also received a qualifying place for the Olympics by capturing the gold in the same category at the 2007 ISSF African Shooting Championships in Cairo, Egypt, defeating Namibia's Gaby Ahrens.

Susanne Kiermayer is a retired German sport shooter. Kiermayer had won a total of nine medals for both trap and double trap shooting at the ISSF World Cup series. She also captured a silver medal in the same discipline at the 1998 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Barcelona, Spain, striking a total of 91 clay pigeons. Kiermayer is currently a vice-president of the German Shooting Federation.

Natalia Rahman is an Australian sport shooter. She won a gold and silver medal in the women's skeet shooting, at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, a gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, coincidentally in her home city, accumulating a score of 90 targets. She has also won a bronze medal for Australia at the world cup in Shanghai, and bronze medal at the World Championships in Cairo, and silver medal at the World Championships in Finland. Rahman is also the sister of two-time Olympian Paul Rahman, and the daughter of her personal coach Goran Rahman.

Yelena Anatolyevna Tkach is a Russian sport shooter. Representing the former Soviet Union, Tkach won a silver medal in the women's double trap at the 1991 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Perth, Australia, with a total score of 121 clay pigeons. She also defeated Lithuania's Daina Gudzinevičiūtė by one point for the gold medal in the women's trap at the 2002 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Lahti, Finland, accumulating a score of 93 targets. Tkach is also a member of the shooting team for Dynamo Voronezh, and is coached and trained by her teammate and two-time Olympian Maxim Kosarev.

Emanuela Felici is a Sammarinese sport shooter. She represented her nation San Marino in two editions of the Olympic Games, finishing seventh each in the process. Considered one of the world's top female trap shooters, Felici pocketed two career bronze medals at the 2002 European Championships in Lonato del Garda, Italy, and at the 2007 ISSF World Cup Series in Maribor, Slovenia.

Susan Maree Trindall is an Australian sport shooter. She has won a career tally of five medals, including a gold in women's double trap shooting under junior division at the 2001 ISSF World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, and had a golden opportunity to represent Australia at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Trindall is also a member of Showman's Clay Target Shooting Range and the Australian Clay Target Shooting Association, where she trains full-time under head coach Greg Chan.

Roberta Pelosi is an Italian sport shooter. She has been selected to compete for Italy at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and has established a career tally of eighteen medals in a major international competition, including a world-record breaking gold at the 1998 ISSF World Cup meet in Cairo, Egypt and a silver in women's trap at the 2003 World Shotgun Championships in Nicosia, Cyprus. Pelosi is a member of Valle Aniene Target Shooting Club, and a resident athlete of the Italian Clay Shooting Federation, where she trains under head coach and 1996 Olympic double trap medalist Albano Pera.

Diana Bacosi is an Italian shooter. She began shooting at 14. She represented her country in Women's skeet shooting at the 2016 Summer Olympics where she won the gold medal, and at the 2020 Summer Olympics where she won the silver medal.

Seonaid McIntosh is a British sports shooter who became the World Champion at the 2018 ISSF World Shooting Championships in the 50m Prone Rifle event. In 2019 she became Britain's most successful female rifle shooter of all time, winning five World Cup medals. She also became the first British Woman to rank World #1 for the 50m Rifle Three Position event and became European Champion in the 300m Rifle Prone event with an equal World Record score.
