Darren Devlin Sidoel (born 10 March 1998) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for AB. Besides the Netherlands, he has also played in England, Belgium, Bulgaria, India and Spain. [3]

Club career

Sidoel started his career with ADO Den Haag before joining AFC Ajax in 2012. [1] After making his debut in the Eerste Divisie for Jong Ajax in the 2017–18 season, [4] Sidoel signed for English club Reading on a three-year contract in July 2018. [5] on 8 July 2019, Sidoel left Reading by mutual consent. [6]

On 8 August 2019, Sidoel signed a two-year contract with Arda Kardzhali. [7] He completed his debut on 23 August 2019 in a league match against Cherno More Varna. [8]

On 17 July 2020, Sidoel signed a 1-year contract with Córdoba CF. On 1 February 2021 was loaned to Segunda División B club Hércules CF for the rest of the season. [9]

On 17 September 2021, Sidoel signed with Indian Super League side SC East Bengal [10] and made his debut on 27 November in a 3–0 defeat to ATK Mohun Bagan. In the next match on 30 November, he scored his first goal against Odisha FC, but lost the match by 6–4. [11] In September 2023, Sidoel joined Danish 2nd Division side AB. [12]

International career

Sidoel represented the Netherlands at under-17 youth level. [5] He is of Indonesian and Surinamese descent. [13] [14] In an interview for a local media, right after he had joined Arda Kardzhali in 2019, Siddoel expressed his desire to represent the Indonesia national team, but would first concentrate on his club career. [15]

The 2019–20 season was Ludogorets Razgrad's ninth consecutive season in the Bulgarian First League, of which they were defending champions. Ludogorets Razgrad finished the season as Champions for the ninth season in a row, whilst they reached the Quarterfinals of the Bulgarian Cup, before defeat to Levski Sofia, and won the Supercup. In Europe, they were knocked out of the Champions League by Ferencváros in the First qualifying round, dropping into the Europa League where they reached the Round of 32 before being knocked out by Inter Milan.

The 2021–22 First Professional Football League, also known as efbet League for sponsorship reasons, was the 98th season of the top division of the Bulgarian football league system, the 74th since a league format was adopted for the national competition of A Group as a top tier of the pyramid, and also the 6th season of the First Professional Football League, which decides the Bulgarian champion. Ludogorets Razgrad were the defending champions for the 10th consecutive time. They clinched their 11th title with four games to spare on 17 April 2022, following a 4–1 home win over Slavia Sofia.

The 2021–22 season is Arda's third consecutive season in the Bulgarian First League. During this season the club will compete for the first time in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
