He was a starting pitcher on World Series champions with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1967 and Pittsburgh Pirates in 1971.
Juan Ramón Pizarro a.k.a. "Terín" was a Puerto Rican Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher. He played for 18 seasons on 9 teams,from 1957 through 1974. In 1964,he won 19 games (19–9) and pitched 4 shutouts for the Chicago White Sox. He was selected for the Major League All-Star Baseball game in 1963 and 1964.
James Blair Bibby was an American Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher. During a 12-year baseball career,he pitched from 1972 to 1984 with the St. Louis Cardinals,Texas Rangers,Cleveland Indians,and Pittsburgh Pirates,with whom he was a member of its 1979 World Series champions. In 1973,Bibby pitched a no-hitter against the Oakland Athletics. Also,in 1981,as a member of the Pirates,he missed out on a perfect game by just one hit,allowing a lead off single,before retiring the next 26 batters he faced.
Jonathan Trumpbour Matlack is an American former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a left-handed pitcher from 1971 through 1983 for the New York Mets and the Texas Rangers.
Darold Duane Knowles is an American former professional baseball pitcher and coach,who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1965 through 1980,most notably as a member of the Oakland Athletics dynasty that won three consecutive World Series championships between 1972 and 1974. In the 1973 World Series,Knowles became the first pitcher to appear in all seven games of a World Series. He also played for the Baltimore Orioles,Philadelphia Phillies,Washington Senators / Texas Rangers,Chicago Cubs,Montreal Expos,and St. Louis Cardinals. Knowles batted and threw left-handed. In 2014,he was hired as the pitching coach of the Florida State League's Dunedin Blue Jays.
Robert Dennis Owchinko is an American former professional baseball left-handed pitcher who played all or parts of ten seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). Initially drafted by the San Diego Padres,he played for five teams during the 1980s. During his career,he worked as both a starter and relief pitcher.

Only 196 shutouts were recorded in the 2,266 MLB regular-season games. This was the first season in the Divisional Series era to be played to the full 162 games,as the 1994–95 player's strike caused the first two seasons of the era to be abbreviated.
The 1988 Major League Baseball season ended with the underdog Los Angeles Dodgers shocking the Oakland Athletics,who had won 104 games during the regular season,in the World Series. The most memorable moment of the series came in Game 1,when injured Dodger Kirk Gibson hit a dramatic pinch-hit walk-off home run off Athletics closer Dennis Eckersley to win the game for Los Angeles. The Dodgers went on to win the Series in five games.

The 2011 Major League Baseball season began on Thursday,March 31,and ended on Wednesday,September 28. This marked the first time a season began on a Thursday since 1976,and the first time a regular season ended on a Wednesday since 1990. The 82nd edition of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game was played at Chase Field in Phoenix,Arizona,on July 12 with the National League defeating the American League for the second straight year,by a score of 5–1. As had been the case since 2003,the league winning that game had home field advantage in the World Series. Accordingly,the World Series began on October 19,and ended on October 28,with the St. Louis Cardinals winning in seven games over the Texas Rangers.
