David Racaniello (born June 3,1978),usually known as Dave and nicknamed Rac,is a bullpen catcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Born June 3,1978,in Stamford,Connecticut,Racaniello attended Westhill High School,later going on to attend Norwalk Community College and Central Connecticut State University. [1] [2]
Racaniello played baseball at Westhill High School,including time as a catcher. He later went on to play baseball for Norwalk Community College for two years,where he was a teammate of future MLB pitcher Érik Bédard. In 1998,Racaniello's team at Norwalk won the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series.[ citation needed ] Afterwards,Racaniello transferred to Central Connecticut State University,where he also played baseball. [3]
In the summer of 1997,Racaniello,then still a student at Norwalk,attended a Mets game with a friend. His friend's father was friends with the Mets' then-manager,Bobby Valentine,giving Racaniello and his friend an opportunity to meet the New York skipper before the game. The Mets' regular bullpen catcher at the time was not able to come to the game due to a recent family emergency,so Valentine,who had heard Racaniello had caught,asked him if he was willing to fill in. Racaniello agreed and suited up as a Met for the first time. Racaniello would then fill in as the Mets' bullpen catcher and help out in the bullpen for most of the remainder of the 1997 season until he returned to Norwalk. After his part-time success with the organization,when the position opened up for the 2001 season,the Mets asked Racaniello if he was interested in the job. Racaniello accepted and immediately dropped out of school to serve as the bullpen catcher for the Mets. Racaniello originally planned to possibly return to school,but his continued employment with the Mets prevented such a return. Since 2001,Racaniello has continuously served as the bullpen catcher for the Mets,warming up pitchers as well as throwing batting practice and serving as a "dummy" in drills. [4] On March 30,2017,Racaniello led off for the Mets' major league squad at designated hitter in a game against the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s,an affiliate of the Mets. Racaniello recorded a hit off of Jacob deGrom,but was thrown out attempting to steal second base by Travis d'Arnaud.
Racaniello prefers to remain somewhat silent in the Mets clubhouse,reading books and staying out of the way. He is close friends with third baseman David Wright,who first met him before the 2004 season. [4] Racaniello is physically active,having climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2012 and run the New York City Marathon twice. [1] In 2011,Racaniello consumed 14 cheesesteaks to break Dmitri Young's record for most consumed in the Philadelphia Phillies visiting clubhouse. [5] In 2016 his engagement to his longtime girlfriend,a St. Louis native,was announced on the scoreboard at Busch Stadium.
Darryl Andrew Kile was an American professional baseball starting pitcher. He pitched from 1991 to 2002 for three Major League Baseball (MLB) teams,primarily for the Houston Astros. Kile was known for his sharp,big-breaking curveball. He died at the age of 33 of coronary artery disease in 2002 in Chicago,where he and the St. Louis Cardinals were staying for a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs. He was the first active major league player to die during the regular season since 1979,when the New York Yankees' Thurman Munson died in a plane crash.

Isringhausen proceeded to have a successful career as a relief pitcher,recording exactly 300 career saves. He was a two-time All-Star and led the National League in saves in 2004.
The Auburn Doubledays are a collegiate summer baseball team of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) that is located in Auburn,New York. From 1958 to 2020,they were members of Minor League Baseball's New York–Penn League (NYPL). They have played their home games at Leo Pinckney Field at Falcon Park since 1995. They previously played at the original Falcon Park,which was built in 1927 on the same site. The team is owned and operated by Auburn Community Baseball.

Nicholas Nicholie Koback was a Russian American professional baseball player whose career spanned eight seasons,three of which were spent with the Major League Baseball (MLB) Pittsburgh Pirates (1953–55). At the age of 17,Koback signed with the Pirates as a bonus baby out of Hartford Public High School. He made his MLB debut without ever playing in the minor leagues. At the time,he was the youngest Pittsburgh Pirates player ever. During his first career start,Koback caught a complete game shutout by Pirates pitcher Murry Dickson. Most of Koback's time with Pittsburgh was spent as a bullpen catcher. Over his three-year MLB career,Koback compiled a .121 batting average with one run scored,four hits,one triple and one base on balls in 16 games played. The majority of his playing career was spent in the minor leagues with the Lincoln Chiefs,Williamsport Grays (1956),Hollywood Stars (1956–57),New Orleans Pelicans (1956–57),Columbus/Gastonia Pirates (1958) and Charleston Senators (1960). He batted and threw right-handed. During his career,he weighed 187 pounds (85 kg) and stood at 6 feet (180 cm). After retiring from baseball,Koback played pro–am golf in Connecticut.
