Alpine County is a county in the eastern part of the U.S. state of California located within the Sierra Nevada on the state border with Nevada. As of the 2020 Census,the population was 1,204,making it California's least populous county. The county seat and largest community is Markleeville.
Nevada's 1st congressional district occupies parts of communities in Clark County east of the Las Vegas Freeway and south of Nellis Air Force Base,including parts of Las Vegas,most of Henderson,Paradise,Sunrise Manor,and Winchester,as well as all of Boulder City,Nelson,and Whitney. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of D+3,it is the equal most Democratic districts in Nevada,along with the state’s 4th congressional district.

It currently (2012–2021) consists of 21 members from single-member districts. In the previous redistricting (2002–2011) there were 19 districts,two of which were multimember. Since 2012,there have been 21 districts,each formed by combining two neighboring state assembly districts. Each state senator represented approximately 128,598 as of the 2010 United States census. Article Four of the Constitution of Nevada sets that state senators serve staggered four-year terms.
