David Miramant (born May 22,1955) is an American Democratic politician and pilot from Maine. He represents Senate District 12,Knox County,in the Maine Senate. Miramant served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006-2008 and was first elected to the Senate in 2014. Miramant is a career pilot:He flew commercial Boeing 767s at Delta Air Lines and has owned and operated a glider ride service on coastal Maine since 2005.
Miramant's father served in the Air Force and the family traveled frequently when Miramant was a child. He attended Bedford High School outside of Boston from 1969-1973 and became active politically during the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War. [1] [2] [3]
Miramant attended the University of Maine at Farmington from 1975-1980 and completed a Bachelor of Arts in biology. [3] [1] He received his airline transport pilot licence,qualified as a captain on the Boeing 767 and flew for Delta Air Lines. [2] [3] [1] He has also owned and operated several small business,including a hotel,restaurants,and a flying service,and worked as a boat captain. [2] [3]
Miramant served on the Camden,Maine Select Board from 2000-2003 and was on the budget and personnel committees. He was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2006 to represent Camden and Rockport and served one term until 2008 [2] [3] [1] when he unsuccessfully challenged incumbent Chris Rector for the Senate District 22 seat. In February 2014,Miramant announced that he would seek to replace the retiring Edward Mazurek for the renamed Senate District 12. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and defeated Republican Paula Sutton 52%-48% in the general election. [5]
In the 2020 Senate District 12 general election,Miramant defeated Republican Gordon Page 58%-42%. [6] [5] In December 2020,he was appointed Senate chair of the Marine Resources Committee and also sat on the Labor and Housing Committee. [7] [8] As of March 2021,Miramant is a member of the Coastal Caucus [2] [9] and a commissioner on the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. [2] [10] In March 2021,he was appointed to the Coastal and Marine working group of the Maine Climate Council. [11]
Miramant has been married to Dee Webster since 1980 [1] and they have two adult children. [2] Miramant has owned and operated Spirit Soaring Glider Rides out of Owls Head,Maine since 2005. [3] [2]

John William Warner III was an American lawyer and politician who served as the United States Secretary of the Navy from 1972 to 1974 and as a five-term Republican U.S. Senator from Virginia from 1979 to 2009. Warner served as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee from 1999 to 2001,and again from 2003 to 2007. He also served as the Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee from 1995 to 1999.
The Gulf of Maine is a large gulf of the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of North America. It is bounded by Cape Cod at the eastern tip of Massachusetts in the southwest and by Cape Sable Island at the southern tip of Nova Scotia in the northeast. The gulf includes the entire coastlines of the U.S. states of New Hampshire and Maine,as well as Massachusetts north of Cape Cod,and the southern and western coastlines of the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia,respectively.
Fort Knox,now Fort Knox State Park or Fort Knox State Historic Site,is located on the western bank of the Penobscot River in the town of Prospect,Maine,about 5 miles (8.0 km) from the mouth of the river. Built between 1844 and 1869,it was the first fort in Maine built entirely of granite;most previous forts used wood,earth,and stone. It is named after Major General Henry Knox,the first U.S. Secretary of War and Commander of Artillery during the American Revolutionary War,who at the end of his life lived not far away in Thomaston. As a virtually intact example of a mid-19th century granite coastal fortification,it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969 and declared a National Historic Landmark on December 30,1970. Fort Knox also serves as the entry site for the observation tower of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge that opened to the public in 2007.

She was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court in 2001,becoming both Maine's first woman and the youngest person ever to serve in the position. She served as chief justice until 2020 when she was hired as the eighth Dean of the University of Maine School of Law.

Dill was first elected to the Maine Legislature in 2010 when he represented Maine House District 14 for two terms before running for the Senate District 5 in 2014. He completed his fourth term in the Maine Senate in 2022. Dill works as the pest management specialist for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and is a professor in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Maine. He is considered one of the foremost experts on insect pests in Maine and one of the pioneers of integrated pest management (IPM) in the state.

Maxmin was the first Democrat ever to represent Maine House District 88,the youngest member of the 129th Maine Legislature,and is the youngest female state senator in Maine's history.
Louis Luchini is an American Democratic politician and former professional long-distance runner from Maine. Luchini served in the Maine Senate representing District 7,Hancock County from 2018 to 2022. Luchini was born and raised in Ellsworth,Maine and began running competitively in middle school. He was a state champion runner at Ellsworth High School and continued to Stanford University where he earned a degree in human biology and was an all-American runner. Luchini graduated from Stanford in 2004 and signed a contract with Nike to run professionally,also participating in the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2004 and 2008. He returned to Maine in 2009,joined the cross-country coaching staff at Ellsworth High School and ran for the Maine House of Representatives in 2010. Luchini served four terms in the Maine House before running successfully for the Senate in 2018. In 2020,Luchini was re-elected to Senate District 7 for a second two-year term. In January 2022,he resigned from the Senate to accept a job in the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Glenn "Chip" Curry is an American Democratic politician and youth advocate currently serving as the Maine State Senator for District 11. He has represented Waldo County in the State Senate since 2020 and is the student services coordinator at the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA)'s Rockland center. Curry earned an MS in College Student Personnel Services from Miami University in 1994 and worked in student services at Unity College and the University of Southern Maine (USM)'s Muskie School of Public Service before joining UMA.
Joseph Rafferty Jr. is an American educator,high school gridiron football coach,and Democratic politician from Maine. Rafferty has been the head coach of the Kennebunk High School Rams football team since 1979 and is currently serving his first term in the Maine Senate representing District 34,which consists of Kennebunk,Wells,Acton,Lebanon,North Berwick,and part of Berwick. Rafferty was born in 1955 and grew up in Woburn,Massachusetts. He attended Springfield College,graduated in 1977 and began teaching and coaching at Kennebunk High School in 1978. As an educator,he was active in the teachers' unions and helped negotiate contracts on their behalf. He retired from full-time teaching in 2018 but continues to coach football. Rafferty was elected to the Maine Senate in 2020 and is currently serving his first term.
Genevieve Kurilec McDonald is an American Democratic politician,lobster boat captain,and fisheries advocate from Maine. In 2018,she was the first female commercial fisherman to be elected to the Maine House of Representatives. McDonald represented House District #134:Cranberry Isles,Deer Isle,Frenchboro,Isle au Haut,North Haven,Southwest Harbor,Stonington,Swan's Island,Tremont,Vinalhaven,and Marshall Island. In 2013,she successfully led a social media campaign to prompt fishing gear producer Grundéns to produce commercial fishing gear for women. In June 2014,McDonald became the first woman to serve on the Maine Department of Marine Resources Lobster Advisory Council (LAC). McDonald resigned her House seat effective on May 10,2022,the day after the last Legislative Day of the Second Regular Session of the 130th Maine Legislature.
The 2022 Maine State Senate election was held on Tuesday,November 8,2022,with the primary election using instant-runoff voting being held on June 14,2022,to elect the 131st Maine Senate. Voters in all 35 districts of the Maine State Senate elected elect their state senators. The elections coincided with the elections for governor,U.S. House and the Maine House of Representatives. Republicans needed to gain five seats to win control of the chamber.

Tipping announced his run for the Maine Senate in September 2021,and was elected in November of 2022 to his first term.
Anne "Pinny" Beebe-Center is an American politician from Maine. She serves in the Maine State Senate representing District 12,comprising Knox County. Beebe-Center was born in Salem,Massachusetts and moved with her family throughout the East Coast of the United States before settling in Maine following college. She worked for the State of Maine and for various education and nonprofit organizations,first seeking public office in 2002 when she was elected commissioner of Knox County. Beebe-Center served three terms in the Maine House of Representatives beginning in 2015 before running for the Maine Senate in 2022. She is currently serving her first term.
